Culture of Jabalpur

Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh is known for its rich culture and tradition. The city is referred as Sanksar Dhani meaning cultural capital of Madhya Pradesh. It was a center of Gond and Kalchuri dynasties. The culture of the region was then influence by Maratha and Mughal rules. Jabalpur is prominently a Hindu dominated city, though the considerable number of people from other religions especially Muslim are live there.    

The city of Jabalpur like other major cities of Madhya Pradesh such as Bhopal and Indore has become a cosmopolitan city housing the people of different cast, religions and regions. One can find Marwari, Bengali, Marathi, Kannadiga, Telugu, Tamil and Punjabi people living in Jabalpur, the largest city of state by area. Yet the indigenous culture and tradition of the city has not been affected by cultural varieties. People especially now young generation have now taken liking to modern style of dressing, though the traditional costumes of the region are still in use in rural parts of   Jabalpur district.

Tourist Places In Chandigarh


The first planned city of India, Chandigarh is beautiful city where modernization and nature’s preservation go hand in hand. This prosperous, modern, green city is one of the best planned cities in the world. The City Beautiful as Chandigarh is rightfully called is home to several places of attraction which draws a number of tourists round the year.

Rock Garden :

Rock Garden is the major attraction of Chandigarh, the common capital of Punjab and Haryana states. The innovative Rock Garden is the brain child of Nek Chand. The garden is indeed a marvel of the modern world. It contains some beautifully crafted human and animal figures made of industrial and urban waste like broken porcelain items, broken bangles,     handle bars, metal wires, Ply marble and auto parts, etc. Rock Garden also houses a fascinating man-made waterfall and ponds.


Rose Garden :

Rose Garden is another major attraction of the city of Chandigarh. It happens to be the Asia’s biggest rose garden. Set up in 1967, Rose Garden is named Zakir Gulab Bag after India’s former president Zakir Hussain. The garden is home to innumerable varieties of rose. It also houses some medicinal plants. The garden hosts an annual festival called Rose Festival which draws about 20000 visitors to Chandigarh from different parts of India and other countries.

Sukhna Lake :

Sukhna Lake is a beautiful artificial lake situated near the city of Chandigarh. It serves to be a perfect place to spend weekends and holidays. This three sq km lake is much frequented place in the region. Boating, yachting and water skiing are the preferred activities of the tourists. One can also spot numerous species of domestic and migratory birds at the place. 


Terraced garden :

Varieties of flowering plants Musical fountain are the main attraction of this garden. Relaxing feeling and cool breeze tempt tourists to come and spend evening here.



Pinjore garden, International Doll Museum, Chattbir zoo, Cactus garden and Botanical garden are other places of interest to be visited in and around the city of Chandigarh.

By air:

Chandigarh has it's own airport which is 12 km away from the main city. From airport you can take a taxi on rent to reach at your desire destination.

By rail:

Chandigarh railway station is well connected to almost all major cities in India. Railway station is at the distance of 8 kms from the city center.

By road:

Chandigarh has good connectivity with nearby cities and popular tourist attractions. Direct buses and praviate cab, taxis are available from there such as Shimla (120 kms), Kullu (247 Kms) and you can easily get buses and praviate cab, taxis to reach here.


 

Fair and Festival in Solapur



Solapur is a municipal corporation city located in south eastern Maharashtra on the banks of river Sina.

Solapur is a melting pot with a confluence of Marathi, Telugu and Kannada languages.The city is located on major road and rail routes between Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Gadda Jatra, or Nandi Dhwaja (decorated bamboo pole) Procession is the main event of Solapur. This is a fair of the local tradition associated with a story of the spiritual leader Siddharameshwara. Siddarama who was influenced by the teachings of Basaveshwara of Kalyana (he was the person who propagated Veerashaiva Dharma) had lived here. The villagers consider him as a deity. A young girl of the village had wished to marry him. But, Siddeshwara asked her to marry one of his disciples. Siddeshwara conducted their marriage and the day is celebrated as the Gadda fair now.

The fair is celebrated for three days in the month of January around the Makara Sankranti festival.  A day before and after the Makara Sankranti festival are the festival days in Solapur. It is a Marriage ritual. Two Nandi Dhwajas will be taken out for procession symbolizing bride and groom and on the Sankranti day the marriage ritual would take place. A fifteen day cultural fair would be arranged on this occasion.

Other than the above said event, Solapur also celebrates festivities related to Tulaja Bhavani and the Vithoba of Pandharapur. Navaratri is the most favored festival here.

Tourist Places in Khajuraho

Famous for its beautiful sculptured temples, Khajuraho is a major tourist destination in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Beautiful architecture of the temples and exquisitely carved sculptures that adorn the temples make Khajuraho a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
                                                     Chitragupta Temple:
 Dedicated to Lord Surya, Chitragupta temple in Khajuraho is an architectural marvel of Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh and this beautiful monument was built during the 11th century. The temple faces to the east side and enshrined the five ft high idol of Lord Surya in standing position driving a chariot of seven horses. Intricately carved walls, erotic sculptures of human couples, voluptuous Surya Sundaris and image of Lord Vishnu in 11 headed form make the temple a must visit place in Khajuraho.

                                                     Devi Jagdamba temple: 
  It is another historic monument of Khajuraho. Famous for its erotic sculptures and intensively carved figures, Devi Jagdamba temple is among the finest architectural marvels of Khajuraho.  The temple also contains the dazzling images of goddess Parvati along with the image of Mithuna. It also houses beautifully carved panels with the images of Lord Vishnu.



                                                    Kandariya Mahadev temple: 
  It is the most wonderful and largest temple of Khajuraho. This sandstone structure is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This marvelous temple was built during 1025 to 1050 AD. Exquisitely carved main shrine of the temple is adorned with as many as 800 images. The temples structure contains Ardhamandapa, Mahamandapa with several beautifully carved pillars, Prdakshina and Garba Griha. The tower of the temple is about 100 ft high.  Northern and southern sides of the main shrine of the temple contain the most erotic sculptures.  Beautiful mural painting done on the walls of the temple gives us the hint about grandeur of that era.

                                                     Vaman temple: 
  The temple is dedicated to Lord Vaman, the dwarf lord. The temple is situated in the north of Khajuraho district of Madhya Pradesh and is an ancient temple. The structure of the temple bears similarities with the largest temple of Khajuraho. Adinath temple, Parswanath temple, Laxmana temple and Javari temple are some of the many other prominent temples of historic and architectural significance in Khajuraho.

By Air:
Has it's Domestic Airport (hjr) which is well-connected to most of the Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Allahabad and Bhopal.

By Train:
Khajuraho railway station 5 km away from this tourist place. Second nearest railway station to the Khajuraho is Mahoba Junction which is around 73 km away.

By Road:

Khajuraho is well connected to all cities in the state and you can take drive in your own vehicle or hire a cab or taxi to reach at this destination.

Tourist places in Varanasi


Varanasi is one of most prominent Hindu pilgrimage spots in India. Kashi Vishwanath is the chief deity of Varanasi. Built by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore during the 18th century, Kashi Vishwanath temple is much frequented place in Varanasi. 

New Vishwanath temple :                                          

 

 New Vishwanath temple, otherwise known the golden temple, is another important temple of Varanasi which lies just about 130 km east of Allahabad city. The temple is situated in the campus of Banaras Hindu University. Built by Birla family, the temples is sometimes referred as Birla temple. The temple bears the same structural architecture as that of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and is dedicated Lord Shiva.

In ancient times, the mighty ruler Vijayanagar Empire used to take out a large procession of elephants on the occasion of the festival. In modern day too people of Mysore take out colorfully dressed elephant in the procession which goes round the city.

  Yugadi is major festival of Karnataka state. Mysore, being a part of Karnataka, also celebrates Yugadi with much pomp and show. The festival marks the beginning of New Year for the people of Karnataka and hence the festival is celebrated with much fanfare. The festival usually comes in the end of March month or in the beginning of April. Besides Dussera and Yugudi, other major festivals like Deepawali and Holi are celebrated Mysore with much pomp and show.

Tourist Places In Guntur

Located in Indian southern state of Andhra Pradesh.Guntur is known for its several historical and religious prominence monuments, Guntur is major tourist destination in the state and therefore attracts a large number of tourists from different parts of the country.
Amaravati :
Amaravati is famous historical town having religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Located at the mouth of Krishna River in Guntur district, Amaravati hosts popular Amareshwara temple and a huge Buddhist Stupa. The Stupa is bears the beautiful carvings which displays the teachings, lifestyle of lord Buddha. Guwahati, formerly known as Pragjyotishpura meaning the light of the east, is a city of Indian state of Assam. Umananda temple :

Umananda temple is a prominent temple of Guwahati. Built in the year 1664, the temple is situated at Peacock Island in the middle of Brahmaputra. Kamakhaya Temple :

Culture Of Ahmedabad



The diverse culture of Ahmedabad is known all over the world. The people here are very obsessive regarding their celebration of every festival.
