Mysore is the second largest city of the state of Karnataka, India. This historical city is famous for its several palaces. Besides, in Mysore there are many places in of interest which draw a number of tourists throughout the year.
Mysore Palace :
Mysore Palace is a major attraction of Mysore city. Situated in the heart of the city, Mysore Palace mesmerizes one and all with its magnificent look. The palace is famous for its beautiful paintings and architectural marvel. The palace remains open from 10 to 5.30 pm daily. On Sundays and holidays it is illuminated in the evening.
Chamundeshwari Temple :
Chamundeshwari temple is a prominent place of worship in Mysore. Perched on the top of a nearby hill, Temples of the Indian State of Karnataka illustrate the varieties of architecture prevalent in various periods. Chamundeshwari temple is an old one and is known for several Nandi Images. The temple is dedicated to Sri Chamundeshwari. Idol of the main deity is completely made of gold. The temple is visited by thousand of devotees throughout the year.
Brindavan Garden :
Brindavan Garden is another major attraction of Mysore. It happens to be the one of most beautiful gardens of India. The garden is situated near Krishnarajsagar dam and is much frequented tourist place of Mysore. It was set up during the rule of Krishnaraja Wodeyar. Dancing fountains, numerous flower plants, lush green trees etc are the main features of the garden.
Mysore Zoo :
Another attraction of the Mysore city as well as Karnataka state is Mysore Zoo. Numerous species of animals can be spotted in the zoo. The place is visited by a number of tourists. It is open for public from 9 to 5 p.m. A serene lake and beautiful backdrop of Chamuda hills adds beauty to this place. Balmuri Falls, Kabini River and St. Philomena’s Church are some of the many other places of attraction situated in and around Mysore city. If you are planning to visit Mysore then don't worry the city is well connected with all major cities in India. You can hire a car for full day to go and see these tourist places without any hassle.
