Tourist Places in Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is a town in Satara district of the state of Maharashtra, India. It is also a popular hill station in the state and is located in the Western Ghat of India. It is elevated at the altitude of 1372 m and is adorned with many beautiful natural sights. It was developed by the British as summer resort. It was also the summer capital of Bombay Presidency in the British rule. Marathi is widely spoken language here and Hindi is also spoken by some.

Mahabaleshwar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the entire state. It houses many places of attraction. 

Venna Lake

Venna Lake : 

Very attractive and picturesque man made lake which was constructed in 1842. Boating opportunity for travelers make this place a favorite. Row and Peddle boats are available here for half or one hour. Boating time is morning 8:00 AM to evening 8:00 PM. 


Elephant head point

Elephant head:

Rock formation in a way that it looks like an elephant's trunk. From here you can see a magnificent view of Deccan plateau.

Arther's Seat:

Known as the queen of all points in Mahabaleshwar is located at the height of 1470 m. The name of this place is derived from British officer Arthur Mallet who is said to have sat here after losing his wife an children to a ferry accident on River Savitri


Panchganga temple

Panchganga temple: 

The Panchganga Temple is constructed at the confluence of five rivers, Krishna, Veena, Savitri, Koyna and Gayatri.

Wilson Point :

point get the name after Sir Leslie Wilson, the Governor of Bombay. This places is very famous for the best view of sunset and sunrise.


Morarji Castle :

Morarji Castle is one of them. The castle is old one and built in British style architecture. The castle is surrounded by many other colonial structures. 




Mount Malcolm :

Mount Malcolm is a mansion built in the memory of John Malcolm. It was built in the year 1829 AD. It is fascinating place in Mahabaleshwar and one of the earliest edifices to be found here. 




Pratapgarh fort :

Pratapgarh fort is another interesting place near Mahabaleshwar. It is the same place where Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj killed Afzalkhan, a Mogul knight. The fort is 24 km from Mahabaleshwar and it was built in 1656.

 

Mahabaleshwar temple :

Mahabaleshwar temple is a temple of lord Shiva. The temple is visited by locals and tourists.




Connaught Peak :

Connaught Peak is yet another place of attraction in Mahabaleshwar. It is the second highest peak in Mahabaleshwar. Earlier it was known as Mount Olympia.

How to reach :

By Road: 
Road connects Mahabaleshwar to other parts of the state and country. Many state run buses and other private vehicles, car rental services are available from Pune, Satara, Mumbai and many other cities and towns of the state. It is just 58 km away from Satara while it is 120 km from Pune.

By Train:
Satara railway station is nearest railhead to this hill town and well linked by many trains to many other cities and towns of the state.

By Air:
Pune Airport serves the nearest airbase to it and is well connected by several domestic flights to other major cities of India. You can book a cab in advance to pick you up from the airport.

There are many hotels and resorts which provides accommodation facilities to tourists. It is better to book your rooms in advance.

Tourist Places in Mudumalai

Mudumalai is a city in Indian southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on southwest side of Nilgiri Mountains. Nilgiri literally means Blue Mountains and one can easily imagine by the name how the landscape would be looking like. Mudumalai is mainly popular as Mudumalai National Park. Mudumalai is famous for housing many exotic animals. As a matter of fact, most of the tourists come here only to see these exotic creatures. Mudumalai is also an ideal place to watch various birds as Mudumalai is also the home to various species of birds.

Mudumalai national park :

Mudumalai national park was established way back in 1940 AD.  Earlier the park was spread over an area of 60 sq km and now it occupies an area of 320 sq km. It is home to primates like the bonnet macaque and the gray Langur. Tigers, leopards, dholes, striped Hyemnas, Asian elephants, golden Jackals and sloth bears are seen in the park. The park is also home to various birds like the crested serpent eagle, crested hawk-eagle, Malabar grey hornbill and Malabar Trojan. Striped tit- babbler can also be seen here.

Jangle Safari :

Mudumalai is also the place where one can take the joy of Jangle Safari. Elephant safaris and vehicles safaris offer the rare chance of watching many exotic animals with their natural habitat. Vehicles for safaris are available on first come first served basis. Jeep and van are used as vehicles safaris. Jeep can accommodate 6 people at a time while van accommodates 25 people at a time. Elephant safaris allow four people on an elephant at a time. These Jungle safaris are available in the morning and in the evening.

Theppakadu Elephant Camp :

Theppakadu Elephant Camp is another interesting place in Mudumalai. The camp was set up in 1972.  The camp is place where elephants are trained. It is interesting to see two elephants performing Pooja to lord Shiva every day.

By road:

Mudumalai is well linked by many state run buses and other private vehicles to Coimbatore, Mysore, Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore and other many cities and towns of the state and the country.

By train:

Udagamadalam railway station serves the nearest railhead to Mudumalai. It is just 64 km away from Mudumalai and connected to other cities and towns of the state and the country.

By air :

Coimbatore airport is nearest airbase to Mudumalai and is about 160 km away from it and well linked to other major cities of India. Booking a taxi or cab in advance before travel will ensure that you have a taxi waiting for you at the airport when you land.

Navratri Festival


Navratri, the festival of nine nights, is celebrated in all parts of India every year. The festival comes in Ashvin (Sept-Oct) month of Hindu calendar.  The festival sees the worshipping the goddess Durga and her nine Shakti forms during the nine day of the festival. Navratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit. The festival is celebrated to mark the mythological incidence in which the goddess Durga kills the demon Mhaisasura.
Festival of Navratri reminds you of Gujarat which gives the festival a charming look. The festival also brings before you the views of people in Garba playing Dandiyas and dancing to the tunes of Navratri songs. This charming celebration of the festival in Gujarat has also lured people of Maharashtra, Goa and other states to begin to celebrate the Navratri festival that way.
Navratri is celebrated with utmost devotion to the goddess Durga. During the nine days, especially  between evening and pre mid night time, people are seen worshipping the goddess. Idols of goddess Durga are installed in pandals where people gather in the evening, performs the puja (worship) of the goddess. And as soon as the puja is done young boys and girls are seen playing Dandiyas to the tune of special Navratri songs. Bollywood songs are also played for Dandiys in some Pandals.
The festival also marks end of spring and beginning of autumn in India. After the nine days celebration of Navratri, Dussera, which is itself a major festival, is celebrated throughout the country.

Tourist Places in Madikeri, Karanataka

Formerly known as Mercara, Madikeri is a famous hill station in the state of Karnataka, india. It is also the head town of Kodagu district. Madikeri is home to Kodva tribe. The attire of people of Kodva tribe is distinct from other people. These people are seen carrying their traditional weapon like knives. These people are also known for their traditional martial war dances. The town of Madikeri is popular tourist destination and offers its tourists  beautiful natural surroundings to explore the nature.
Places of interest:
Madikeri is a major tourist destination in Karnataka and therefore attracts many tourists throughout the year. There are some interesting places in and around Madikeri.
Madikeri fort : 
The fort was built by Mudduraja in 17th century and then renovated in 1790 by Tipu Sultan. Tipu sultan also named the place Jaffarabad. The fort was taken into control by Doddavira Rajendra and then by the British. There are two life size statues of elephant at the entrance of the fort. A church is also situated in a part of the fort. Kote ganpati, the famos temple of Lord Ganesha is also situated at the main entrance of the fort.    

Raja’s Seat :
It literally means the seat of the king. It is believed that the king of Kodgu used to spen his evenings here. It is beautiful garden situated in Madikeri. Here you can enjoy fascinating views of sunset and other majestic views of surrounding hills and valleys.  



Omkareshwara temple :
It is temple dedicatd to Lord Shiva. It was built by king Lingarajendra in 1920. The temple is built in Muslim and Gothic architecture styles and is located in the center of the city.

 


Abbey falls :
Abbey falls is situated near Madikeri and is the main attraction of the tourists. It is amazing to see the water of Kaveari river falling fron the height of 70 feet. The hanging Bridge built on the gorge offers beautiful views of the falls.




Bhagamandala, Chettalli, and Talacauveri are other  place of interest to be seen in and around Madikeri. Madikeri also offers the tourists adventurous activity like trekking. There are number of trekking trails which adventurous tourists can enjoy.

How to get there: Madikeri is situated on the Mysore – Mangalore state highway and it is, thereby, connected to other parts of the state and the country. It is just 120 km from Mysore and 136 km from Mangalore. Many state run buses and other private vehicle are available from Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and other   cities and  towns of the state. Madikeri is not linked by rail but Hasan, Kannur are nearest railway stations to it. they each are about 115 km away from the town.

Tourist Places in Mount Abu, Rajasthan

Mount Abu is the only hill station of the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated at the altitude of 1220m and is the highest peak in Rajasthan. It is situated in Aravali range of Rajasthan. It is also known as Arbudaranya. As the name is believed is derived from Arbuda, the serpent god. Cording to mythology the serpent came down from the mountain to save Nandi (the bull of Lord Shiva). Mount Abu offers cool and calm ambience and is adorned with beautiful nature. It attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year. It is also a major pilgrimage center for the Jains as it house many important Jain temples.

Dilwara temples :-

Dilwara temples of Jain are known for their beautiful architecture. These temples are a group of five temples all of them date back to 11 to 13th century. These temples have been beautifully carved out white Marbles and present a monumental attraction.



Nakki Lake :-

Nakki Lake is popular tourist spot in Mount Abu and offers tourist calm and cool atmosphere. The lake is surrounded by fascinating lush green. It is also the only artificial lake situated at the height of more than 1200 m in India.


Wildlife sanctuary :-

Wildlife sanctuary is another place you can visit near in Mount Abu. The sanctuary was established in the year 1960 and occupies an area of 290sq km. the sanctuary is home to many species of birds and animals.

 



Sunset point :-

Sunset point is yet another place of interest in Mount Abu. As the name suggest it is place from where one can enjoy the amazing views of sunset. Sunset point is located near the Nakki Lake.

 



Toad Rock :-

Dabok airport at Jaipur is the nearest airbase to Mount Abu. It is about 210km from mount Abu and well linked by several flights to other major cities of India.
By Road:- 
Many state run buses and other private vehicles are available from other cities and towns of the state. Renting a car will help you see Mount Abu conveniently. 

Other details: 

Climate of Mount Abu is pleasant throughout the year and therefore it can be visited any time of the year.  For accommodation facilities there are all kinds of hotels in Mount Abu from budget hotels to deluxe and heritage hotels.

Hastinapur is a town in the district of Meerut of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The town is full of many temples and old religious buildings. The town has reference in the epic of Mahabharata and according to it the town was earlier under the rule of Kaurav Kings. The town also was under the rule of Gujjar Kings during the Mughal regime in India. Temperature of the region ranges from 32 to 40c in summer and 4 to 12c in winter. The ideal time to visit Hastinapur is from September to February.

Hastinapur is mainly known for its temples in and around it. 
  
Pandeshwar Temple :-
Pandeshwar Temple is the temple of Lord Shiva and it is situated in old Hastinapur. Karan temple is another temple of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Shivling inside the temple is established by Karana, one of the important characters of epic Mahabharata.

Digamber Jain Bada Mandir -
Being the home to birth places of three Tirthankaras of Jain religion, Hastinapur is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the Jains. Digamber Jain Baba Mandir is an important pilgrimage center for the Jains. Digmber Jain Jambudweep Mandir is another temple of marvelous sculpture in Hastinapur.

Bhai Dharam Singh Gurudwara :-
Bhai Dharam Singh Gurudwara is religious significance place for the Sikhs. The Gurudwarw is situated in a village called Saifpur which is just 2.5 km away from Hastinapur. The Gurudwara is visited by many Sikh pilgrims from all over the country.
Lotus temple, Ashtpad, Nishiaji are other important places  related with Jain religious.

Tourist Places in Panipat

Historic city of Panipat is situated in the state of Haryana, India. The city has seen three major battles which have great significance in Indian history. The first battle of Panipat occurred in 1526. The battle was fought between Ibrahim Lodhi and Babur. The battle ended the rule of Lodhi in Delhi and established the new regime of Babur. The second battle was fought in 1556 in which forces of Akbar defeated the Vikramaditya, a king of north India. He is known for winning as many as 22 battles with Afgan forces. He had also captured large area of Agra and Delhi. Later on he was caught by Akbar forces and beheaded. The third battle of Panipat saw the defeat of Maratha at the hand of Ahmad Shah Abdali, an Afghan invader. The battle was fought in the year 1761. It was the worst defeat of the Maratha. The battle also weakened the power of Indian rulers and it made the entry easy for the British who ruled India until 1947.
Places to see: 
There are some places of attraction you should not miss if you visit the city of Panipat. Panipat Museum, Grave of Ibrahim Lodhi, Hemu Samadhi Sthal and Kubli Bag are some of them.

Panipat museum :
Panipat museum is established by Haryana Government. The museum gives the details of all the incidence of the battles fought there. The museum also contains inscription, sculptures, craft objects, antiquities, pottery, arms and armors.
Grave of Ibrahim Lodhi :
The tomb Ibrahim Lodhi is located near the tahsil office. Ibrahim Lodhi was defeated and slain in the first battle of Panipat. He was buried at this place.




Kabuli Bagh :
Kabuli Bagh is another interesting place you can visit in Panipat. It was built by Babur after he defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the first battle of Panipat.



Devi temple :Devi temple is also situated there at a big tank. The temple is of local deity. Temple of Shiva, believed to e built by a Maratha king, is also located near the temple of Devi.




 Shri Ram Sharanam, Salar Gunj Gate, Kala Amb are some other places of attraction in and around the city of Panipat.

Tourist Places in Silvassa

  Silvassa is the capital city of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a union territory of India. It was earlier under the rule of Portuguese and the impression of their culture can still be seen there. Tourist Places in Porbandar, Gujarat

The Birth place of Mahatma Gandhi, Porbandar is a prominent tourist place in the state of Gujarat, India. The city is the headquarter of the district of the same name. It is situated on the shores of Arabian Sea and has many places of tourist attraction in and around it. It is also the place where Swami Vivekananda did his research. 

The Huzoor Palace :-
The Huzoor Palace in Porbandar is a place of attraction situated at the sea shore.  It is a European style modern structure. The palace has sprawling garden with fascinating mountains.




Kirti Mandir :-
Kirti Mandir is another place you should not miss on your visit to this city. It is built by Nanaji Bhai Kalidas in 1950 in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The monument is located near the Gandhi Haveli. The monument contains the paintings of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba. It also has a library of books mainly related with Gandhi’s life and his  philosophy.

Darbargadh Palace :-
Darbargadh Palace is another place of interest in Porbandar. It was constructed by Maharana Satranji in 1784. It is a typical example of Gujarati style of architecture. Porbandar is also an ideal place for bird watchers. Many flocks of flamingos can be seen along the coastal line of Porbandar. Take some time out to visit Kuchi which is just 20 minutes drive from Porbandar. It is known for its bird sanctuary and many various species of birds can be seen here. Many photographers are seen here taking photos of birds. 

Naulakha temple :-
Naulakha temple is another religious place you can visit near Porbandar. It is regarded as one of the oldest Sun temple in India. You can also visit Barda Hills. It is just 30 minute drive away from the city. The hill is beautifully covered with lush green forest.




Daria Raj Mahal :-
Daria Raj Mahal is another interesting place you can visit in Porbandar. It is situated very close to the Huzur Palace.  The palace is a beautiful mix of Gothic, Arabic and Indian architecture.


How to reach :
Rail and road connects the city of Porbandar to other places of the state and the country. Porbandar railway station is well linked by many trains to Ahmedabad and other cities and towns of the state and the country. Many state run buses and other private vehicles like cars and luxury buses are also available from other cities and towns of the state. Porbandar has its own airport but it is not frequently connected to other major cities. 

Tourist Places In Paithan,Maharashtra


Earlier known as Pratishthana, Paithan is a Tahsil town in the state of Maharashtra, India.  It is situated on the bank of Godavari river and is 56 km away from city of Aurangabad district of the state. Paithan was the capital of Satvahan dynasty in ancient times.

Paithan is also known as 'Land of Saints'  as it is home of many saints and gurus. It is also the birthplace of Sri Nimbark, the founder of the Nimbarka Sampradaya tradition of Vaishnavism.


The temple of Sant Eknath Maharaj:-
It is prominent place of worship in Paithan. Paithan is the place where great Saint Eknath was born. Samadhi of the saint can be seen there. The shrine of Saint Eknath is visited by thousands of devotees on the occasion of Nath-Shasti festival, which is held annually. 




Paithani Kendra:-
The art of making Paithani is more than 2000 years old and has its roots in Paithan. The town is also famous for its silk saris known as Paithani Sari and Paithani Shalu. These saris are world famous for beautifully embroideries with silver and gold borders. You can also order custom-made beautiful Paithani Sari.




Nathsagar dam:-
It is another interesting place to be seen there. It is one of the largest dams in India. The dam is on the river of Godavari. The river is biggest river in southern India. Jayakwadi bird sanctuary is home to wide varieties of bird species. The sanctuary draws more many birds including migratory ones. About 200 bird species can be found there.  More than 70 species of birds are migratory. Flamingos, Cranes, Shoveller, Pintails, Wigeon, Pochards, Teals, Brahmany Duck, God Wit, Glossy Ibis and  Shauces are some of migratory bird found there.


Dnyaneshwar Watika :-
It is another place of attraction in Paithan. It is beautiful garden made on the line of  Vrindavan in Mysore. The garden has musical fountains which fascinates the visitors. A museum is situated near the garden  and it house many artifacts found in excavation. If you are on the visit of this town take some time out to visit the museum.



Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra :-
Paithan is also famous for Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra.  There is beautiful sand idol of Bhagwan Munisuvratnath, the 20th Jain Tirthankar.


How to reach:

By road : Paithan is well linked by state highway to other parts of the state. You can reach Paithan via Aurangabad. It is the best to get to the town. If you are coming from Pune you can  take the road to Paithan  via Shevgaon after Ahmednagar city. Many state run buses and other private vehicles are available from Aurangabad, Pune, Ahmednagar and many other cities and towns of the state. 

By Railway : Aurangabad railway station is the nearest railhead to Paithan and is well connected to Mumbai, Nasik Pune, Nagpur and many other cities and towns of India. Chikalthana Airport at Aurangabad serves the closest airbase to Paithan. The airport is well linked by regular flights to Mumbai, Nagpur, Bangalore and other metro cities. You can book a cab or taxi online from Chikalthana airport to Paithan at affordable fare.



Tourist Places in Warangal, Andhra Pradesh

Warangal is fifth largest city in state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the head town of Warangal district which is made of three cities – Hanamakonda, Kazipet and Warangal itself. Warangal was the capital place of erstwhile Kakatiya Kingdom which ruled the region during 12th to 14th century. Warangal is historically known as Orugallu and Ekasila Nagaram. Prola Raja of Kakatiya Kingdom is assumed to have built this city during 12th century. There are many leftover of historic monuments, fort and Shiva temple in Warangal which belong to 12th to 14th century.

Warangal Fort :-
Warangal fort is built in 13th century during the great Kakatiya Kingdom. The majestic fort has four Sanchi -style gateways and is one of the finest specimens of south Indian architecture. The fort is famous for its beautiful sculptures. There are some temples situated inside the fort.




Bhadrakali Temple :-
Bhadrakali is another temple to be seen in Warangal. The temple houses the deity of goddess Kali. It is situated on nearby hill of Warangal. The temple is built in Kakatiya dynasty. The idol of the goddess kali is adorned with weapons in her eight hands and crown on her head.   




Thousand Pillar Temple :-
Thousand Pillared Temple is another place you should not miss on your visit to Warangal. The temple present marvel to the visitors. It has beautifully carved thousand pillars and is built in the star like structure. The temple contains three shrines of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Surya.


Kakatiya Musical Garden :-

Pakhal Lake is yet another place of attraction situated near the town of Warangal. The lake is an artificial one and is believed to be built by Kakatiya King in 13th century. The lake is surrounded by beautiful nature and offers perfect spot for picnic.

Morni Hills is situated at the altitude of 3900 feet and has pleasant weather during winter. September to March is best time to visit Morni hills.
