Srikalahasti

 

  Srikalahasti is a town situated near Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is a temple town and mainly known for its numerous temples. Devotees visiting Tirupati, a famous pilgrimage center, also halt at Srikalahasti. It is located on the banks of Swarnamukhi. It is also famous for the temple of Shiva located there. It is believed that the name Srikalahasti is made up of three words Sri, Kala and Hasti which mean Spider, Serpent and elephant respectively.  Some Legendary tales are associated with it and they narrate how these three animals got redemption with their great devotion to lord Shiva. 
  There are many temples in and around the town of Srikalahasti. Srikalahastiva temple in Srikalahasti is known as Kailash of the South. This ancient temple is devoted to lord Shiva.
Durgambika temple :
Durgambika temple is another place of worship in Srikalahasti. This ancient temple is devoted to Goddess Durgambika and is surrounded by beautiful nature. The temple is visited by both devotees and tourists.
Bharadwaja Theertham :
Bharadwaja Theertham is another place of religious and tourist attraction near Srikalahasti. It is situated near the beautiful stream of water. It houses a beautiful idol of Vinayaka. Bhakt Kannapa temple and Chaturmukeshwara temple are some of many other temples to be seen in and around the Srikalahasti.
Temperature of Srikalahasti varies from 30 to 43 degree Celsius in summer while it remains 21 to 32 degree Celsius in winter. October to march is the best time to visit the place.

Srikalahasti is well connected by rail and road to other parts and the state and the country. Srikalahasti railway station is well connected to other major cities of south India. Many state run buses and other private vehicle are available from many cities and towns of the state. Tirupati is just 60km away from Srikalahasti and serves as nearest airbase to it. Tourist Places in Kolad


Gifted with beautiful natural surroundings, Kolad is a famous tourist destination in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is a small village in Raigad district of the state. The village is located at the backdrop of majestic Sahyadri hills. Kundalika River is the main attraction of villages as it offers adventurous activities. Tamhini Ghat Waterfalls :

River rafting in Kundalika River is thrilling experience. One needs courage to have this breathtaking experience of 14km long stretch of river rafting lasting about one and half hour.    
 The festival of Ganesh Chaturathi is celebrated here with much pomp and show. It is ten days’ celebration and many social and cultural programs are organized during the festival.

How to reach :
Kolad railway station is well linked through VT station of Mumbai to other many cities and towns of the state and the country. Mumbai is just 113 km away from Kolad. Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport of Mumbai is nearest airport to Kolad. The airport is well connected other major cities of India and other countries. Many state transport buses and other private vehicles like car and luxury buses are available to reach Kolad from other towns and cities of the state.   

Tourist Places in Leh


 Leh is second largest district in India in terms of area. It is located in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. It was earlier the capital of Ladakh, a Himalayan kingdom. It is located at the altitude of 3524m. Leh is connected to other parts of India by two roads. National highway 1D connects it to Sri Nagar via Kargil. Other one is Leh Manila highway but it can be troublesome as there are many high passes and risk of land sliding along the road. However you can fly here as Leh has its airport called Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee. It is well linked by several flights to Delhi, Sri Nagar and other major cities of India. Leh is not connected by rail.

What to see:  

Though Leh is situated in remote parts of India, it houses many places of interest and historical importance. Palace of King of Ladakh is situated in Leh. At present it is being renovated as it was in ruined condition. There are many beautiful views outside the palace.

Namgyal Tsemo Gompa :

 Namgyal Tsemo Gompa is a Buddhist temple. It was built in 1430 and remains open only between 7am to 9am for the Morning Prayer.

Soma Gompa :

 Soma Gompa is another Buddhist building in Ladakh. Karma Dupgyud Choeling is monastery of Karma Kagyu tradition.

Shanti Stupa :

 Leh also house Shanti Stupa, a Buddhist religious building. It is built by Japan and worth visit place.

Pangong Tso :

 Pangong Tso is beautiful lake situated at the altitude of 4350m. Its blue water surrounding majestic mountains makes it perfect tourist destination.

War museum :

 War museum in Leh is interesting place to visit. The museum has the display showcasing history, tools of the trade related to army operation, replica of Siachin battlefield.

Donkey sanctuary :

Donkey sanctuary in Leh is another place of attraction. The sanctuary is nothing but a home to helpless donkeys. It remains open for the people throughout the day. Offering juicy carrots and small donation is most welcome here for the welfare of these animals.

   Leh also offers its tourists adventurous activities like trekking and river rafting. It has a number of trekking routes while Zaskar and Indus Rivers offers tourists thrilling experience of white water rafting.
 
Best Time to visit: 

 April to July is the best time to visit as its offers a splendid view of beautiful natural surronding of Leh.

 Tibetan antiques, replicas are most preferred shopping items of tourist in Leh. Main bazaar is the place where one can get these Souvenirs. The bazaar also houses many sweet shops which sell sweets along with Samosas, Chana Dal with Puri and other Indian foods.

Tarakeshwar a pilgrimage center in West Bengal


  Tarakeshwar, a renowned pilgrimage center, is a town in the state of West Bengal, India. It is located in Hooghaly district of the state. The town is mainly known for its Tarakeshwar temple. It is believed to be built in 1729 AD by Raja Bharamalla. The temple has ‘atchala’ building structure and Natmandir in front. You can also visit here the shrines of Kali and Lakshami-Narayan which are situated in the temple’s premises.  It is visited by pilgrims throughout the year. On the occasion of Maha Shivratri and Gajan devotees throng there in large number. In the period of Sravan (mid July to mid August) a celebration is held there on every Monday and many devotees visit the temple on that occasion. Visit Dudhpurak tank situated to the north of Tarakeshwar temple. The tank is supposed to be auspicious one and many devotees are seen taking a dip there.
Surrounding towns of Tarakeshwar like Gopadnga, Chautara, Balgarh and Magra provide comfort and accommodation facilities to the pilgrims.
How to reach :-
Kolkata is just about 45 km away from Tarakeshwar. Kolkata airport serves it as the nearest airbase and is well linked to other major cities of India. Tarakeshwar is well connected by rail to Howrah and other cities and towns of the state and the country. It is also connected by many state run buses and other private vehicles like cars and luxury buses to Howrah, Kolkata and other parts of the state.

Hanuman Jayanti


  
  Hanuman Jayanti is one of the Indian festivals celebrating the birth of Hanuman deity. It falls on the 15th day of the Chaitra month (in the month of April) according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The day would be usually a full moon day. But, in some parts of India (Tamil Nadu) the birth of Hanuman (Aanjaneya) would be celebrated on an Amvasya day (no moon day) of the Margashirsh month (falls between December and January).  It is also celebrated during the month of Vaishakh (end of April and the beginning of May) in some other parts. The variation depends upon which calendar one would be referring to.
  Hanuman (also known as Aanjaneya) was a staunch devotee of Lord Rama as the legends state. He was the son of Vayu (air deity) and helped Rama to rescue Seetha from Ravana’s clutches. Hanuman is revered for various reasons. For some he is the symbol of strength. For some he is the protector from evil spirits. Especially people who are affected by Shani (deity of mal-effects) would go to Hanuman temples on Saturdays to get rid of their problem. According to legends Hanuman is the only deity whom Shani would not dare to affect. So, Hanuman is revered for protection over distressing negative energies.
  On the day of his birth the devotees would visit Hanuman temples, would hold spiritual discourses and would do puja at home by chanting mantras. Hanuman Chalesa is the special mantra that would be recited to appease Aanjaneya. Devotees would apply ‘sindhoor’ (vermillion) on their foreheads and the rituals would be done at dawn since Hanuman was born at dawn.

Pangot a famous hill statiion in Uttrakhand


  Pangot is a small village located in the state of Uttrakhand, India. It is located near Nainital, a famous hill station of the state. It is situated at the altitude of 2182 m and has pleasant weather. It is nestled with lush green forests and  15 minutes – drive from Nainital to Pangot offers fascinating experience as the way to this small village from Nainital goes through dense forests.
  Pangot is an ideal place for bird watchers as many species of birds are found there.You can see many varieties of bird here. There are about 150 species of birds including some rare species found in the region. Himalayan griffons, blue winged minlas, bellied woodpeckers and khalij pheasants are some of the species of bird found here. You can also get to watch some species of animals in the region.  Some of the animals that can be found in the region include leopards, sambar deer, Himalayan martins, barking deer, ghorals, and civets. Kilburi and Snow view point are other places of attraction nearby Pangot.
  Pangot offers cool and calm ambience and hence is nice picnic spot. Many tourists who come to Nainital also visit this beautiful place. Pan got also offers some  trekking trails which can be enjoyed by adventurous tourists. Pangot is also nice place for honeymoon couples. Shri Ram Navami

 
  
  Ram Navami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of lord Sri Rama –the ideal King of Ayodhya. The festival commences on the ninth day of the Chaitra Navaratri (Vasant Navratri) and it is celebrated with great fervor all across India. Lord Rama is the celebrated hero of the epic Ramayana. Rama is said to be an ideal king/son/husband. Thus, a celebration of his birth day has been a part of Indian festivities. He was born on the ninth day of the Chaitra month (according to the lunar calendar) to Dasharatha and Kausalya.
  Many people take up fast from the first day of the Vasant Navratri (Gudi Padwa) in the name of Lord Rama and end their fast on the ninth day, the day when Rama was born. On that day processions of Ram idol along with Sita Mata and Lakshman take place and people distribute a type of drink called ‘Paanaka’ (Sharbat made out of jiggery and lemon juice mixed with pepper powder). In some parts of India on this day some people will hold the ‘kalyanotsava’ (marriage of Lord Rama and Sita).  At noon, a coconut draped in cloth would be placed on a cradle to rock; this ritual is done to mark the birth Lord Rama. Rama Navami will be celebrated by holding spiritual discourses and processions.  Usually it falls in March and April.

Tourist Places in Tirupati


Tirupati, the seventh biggest city of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, is a major pilgrimage city.  The city lies in the Chittoor district of the State. Famous for its many Temples in and around it, the city is also known for economic and educational hub in the southern parts of the state. Temperature of the city ranges from 40 to 45 in summer and in winter it is between 15 to 22. Apart from Telugu, native language of the city, Tamil is also spoken widely as many people from Tamil Nadu reside there.   
Places of interest:
The city of Tirupati takes pride in housing many places of religious importance in and around the city. The famous Venketeshwara Swami temple, located at just 10km of north-west of Trupati in the Tirumala Hills, attracts thousands of pilgrims from other parts of the state and the country. It is one the most of important temples of India and is dedicated to Lord Venketeshwara.
Koadanda Rama Swami temple :
Koadanda Rama Swami temple is another important temple of Tirupati and it lies in the center of city. Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are main deities of the temple.
ISKON Lord Krishna temple :
Colored in gold and white ISKON Lord Krishna temple is yet another main religious place of the city.
Shree Venketeshawr zoological park :
Shree Venketeshawr zoological park is another place of attraction of Tirupati. The park is second of its kind in Andhra Pradesh and its houses many different kinds of animals including tigers. The city also has Regional Science Center with planetarium and attracts a good crowd.
Lord Mahadehva temple at Yogimallavaram and Hanuman temple at Tirumala are some of the many other temples to be seen here. Other temples, within 40 km of the city, include Avanakshamma temple, Shree Venugopala Swamy temple, Shree Prasanna Venketeshwara Swami temple and Parashurameshwara temple.

The city of Tirupati is well connected to other parts of the state and country by rail, road and air. It is connected by rail to other cities like Chennai, Bangalore Hyderabad etc. it is also connected by Chennai sub-urban railway. State run buses connect the city to other towns and cities of the state. There are private luxury buses available from other parts the country to visit the city. Tirupati domestic airport, located 15 km from the center of the city, has many flights from cities like Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc.

Bramvhostava festival in Tirupati is celebrated over the nine days.  The festival comes in the month of October every year   and is one of the most auspicious events in Tirupati and it draws many people from other parts of the state and the country.

Tourist Places in Gopalpur,Orissa


Gopalpur is a town in the district of  Ganjam of the state of Orissa, India. Popularly known as Gopalpur-On-Sea, it is a beach town and a famous tourist destination in Orissa. The town is situated in the Bay of Bengal and has pleasant weather most of the time of the year. Its temperature ranges from 23 to 35c in summer and 16 to 27c in winter. Oriya is the main language of the town. Gopalpur was a major hub trading for the British in colonial time. Now it has become very popular tourist destination in the state.   As the name suggests the Konkan fruit festival is all about the fruits of Konkan region of India.  The festival is organized every year in Panjim, Goa.
