It offers amazing views of sun set. Surthkal beach is another worth visiting beach of Mangalore. The beautiful and clean beach is known for its serene environs and is visited by a number of tourists round the year. Sultan Battery: It is a watch tower believed to be built by Tipu Sultan. It was built to keep watch on warships entering into Gurpur River. The majestic structure of the watch tower presents a marvelous look to the tourists. Although the construction of Sultan Battery was meant to be a watch tower, the massive structure gives the look of mini fortress to the visitors. This historic structure is mostly in ruined condition; even so it serves to be a main attraction of Mangalore.
