Tourist Places in Gopalpur,Orissa


Gopalpur is a town in the district of  Ganjam of the state of Orissa, India. Popularly known as Gopalpur-On-Sea, it is a beach town and a famous tourist destination in Orissa. The town is situated in the Bay of Bengal and has pleasant weather most of the time of the year. Its temperature ranges from 23 to 35c in summer and 16 to 27c in winter. Oriya is the main language of the town. Gopalpur was a major hub trading for the British in colonial time. Now it has become very popular tourist destination in the state. It is mainly known for its beautiful beach.
What to see: Apart from its famous beach Gopalpur offers its tourists many places of interest in and around it.
Gopalpur beach :-
Gopalpur beach houses a light house which is the main attraction of the tourists. Gopalpur was prominent port and many ships and traders used to come there. This light house was there to show the directions to many trading ships. Now this ancient monument is in ruins but it is still one of most visited sites. The light house offers its visitors beautiful views of surrounding greeney from its top. Ruins of Old Jetty are found in the beach area. This old jetty is the same jetty from where many travelers started their journey by sea to reach other countries.
Dhavaleshwar :-
Dhavaleshwar is another place worth visiting around Gopalpur.  It is a beautiful island located in Mahanadi River. It is small paradise for those who want calm and secluded place. This island has everything from cool breeze to lush greenery around. It is an ideal place to spend holyday. Tourist Places in Hansi


Hansi is a city in the district of Hisar of Indian state of Haryana. Situated on the national highway no.10 it is just 26 km away from the Hisar. It houses many ancient buildings and monuments of historical importance. Agriculture and other allied business activities along with service sector are its main sources of income for the people of Hansi. It is learnt that the city of Hansi was larger and more important than the district of Hisar. Punjabi and Hindi are widely spoken languages in Hansi.   
Places to visit:
Hansi is popularly known for its tombs, forts, mosques and shrines and their architectural value. Hansi has five gates to welcome the visitors. These five historical gates are located in such a way that each one of them faces a different direction. Delhi Gate, Hisar Gate, the Barsi Gate, Gosain Gate and Umra Gate are names of those gates. Barsi Gate is known for its excellent sculpture and it attracts many tourists to visit the place.
Prithviraj Chauhan Fort :
It is another place of interest in Hansi. The fort is also known as Asigarh and was built to safeguard the city but it was later on conquered by the Mughal. This magnificent fort is stretched over 30 acres and are surrounded by other 80 smaller forts. Outside the fort there are statues of Bhagavan Mahavir and Bhagavan Gautam Buddha. Hansi also houses shrines of four Sufi saints. These shrines are located at Daragah Char Qutub and attract many pilgrims from far and wide.
Gujari Mahal :
Built by Mughal, Gujari Mahal is another place of attraction in Hansi. It is famous for its architectural value.

Tourist Places in Kumarakom


Known for its backwater tourism, Kumarakom is famous tourist spot in the state of Kerala, India. Kumarakom is located near the city of Kottayam which is just 16 km away from it. Tourism, fishing and agriculture form the economic activity of Kumarakom. It has vast area under mango groves, paddy fields, and coconut groves.          
Bird Sanctuary :-
Bird sanctuary of Kumarakom is famous for many species of birds including some migratory birds. Vembanad Lake in Kumarakom is known for being the largest backwater in Kerala. The Taz Garden Retreat is another place of interest in Kumarakom. It is a modern resort built in Victorian style bungalow in 1881. The place is one of the most visited places in Kumarakom.

Kumarakom has been declared as special tourism zone by Kerala state government. Kumarakom attracts thousands of tourists from across the country.
How to reach :-
If you are traveling by train you can get down at Kottayam railway station which is just 16 km from Kumarakom. From Kottayam you can take a state run bus or other private vehicles like car to reach Kumarakom. Gulmarg - a popular skiing destination

 

 Gulmarg, meadow of flowers as it literally means, is a beautiful hill station in the district of Baramula of Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. Shrine of Baba Reshi :

 Built in 1480 the shrine of Baba Reshi is situated in the valley of Gulmarg. Baba Reshi was Muslim scholar and saint who worked as courtier during the period of King of Kashmir Zain-ul-Abidin. The shrine is constructed in Mughal and Persian style of architecture. This sacred place is very revered and thousands of devotees visit the place throughout the year.

Cable Car :

One of the most wonderful attractions of Gulmarg is the Cable Car. The cable car is from Gulmarg to Kongdoor and known as  Gondala Lift. The cable car is managed by Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation. The cable car gives wonderful experience of watching the pristine beauty of Valley. Skiing and snowboarding are some of the joyful activities in the Gulmarg. It has become a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding in India. There are many ski resorts with all facilities of skiing in Gulmarg. Golf is the attractive and popular sport in Gulmarg. Established in 1911 by the British, Gulmarg Golf Club offers 18 holes and 72 par golf courses. The club also offers membership on temporary basis, even for a day for enthusiasts. 


Best time to visit:  

March to June is the ideal time to visit Gulmarg as the climate is pleasant where as the temperature during this month is 29 degree Celsius max. to 13 degree Celsius.

Tourist Places in Kanchipuram



Kanchipuram is a city in Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  It was formerly called as Conjeevaram. It is situated on the bank of Palar River and is famous for its temples and hand woven silk saris.  It is also known as Silk City. Weaving silk saris is the main profession of the people of Kanchipuram. There are about 5000 families engaged in this profession. It is also known as the city of temples. Devarajaswami Temple :

Ekambaranathar Temple:
Ekambaranathar Temple is spread over an area of 20 acres. It is the largest temple in Kanchipuram.  The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built by the Pallavas and has as many as 1000 pillars in the temple. This temple houses as many as one thousand Lingas made of single stone.



Kachabeswarar Temple:
Kachabeswarar temple in Kanchipuram has beautiful sculptures and engravings.   Here you can see Lord Vishnu in the form of tortoise worshipping Lord Shiva.






Kailasanathar Temple :
Kailasanathar Temple is another place of interest in Kanchipuram. It was built in 7th century by Pallava king Rajasimha. The temple is fine example of Dravidian style of architecture.




Kamakshi Amman Temple :
Kamakshi Amman Temple is located in the center of the city. It was built in 7th century and renovated in 14th century. The temple is dedicated to goddess Paravati. It is famous for being one of the three holy places of Shakti Worship.
Kanchi Kamakshi Temple is another famous temple in Kanchipuram. The temple has beautiful sculptures and some colorful paintings worth watching.

Tourist Places in Pelling

Pelling is a town in the state of Sikkim, India. It comes under Geyzing district of the state.  Rishikesh is a holy town in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It lies in Dehradun district of the state. It is situated at foothills of Himalayan ranges and is often called as gateway to the Himalaya.  The town is visited by both pilgrims and tourists. The place is significant in the view that it is through the place that most of the devotees visit other important pilgrimage center like Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.  Rishikesh literally means Lord of the Senses and it is referred to Lord Vishnu. Palani Hills - Oldest mountain ranges in India

Palani Hills
 Palani Hills is one of the oldest mountain ranges in India. It is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Hills is located at the eastern part of the western Ghat of India.  The region is home to nomadic tribe of Paliyan. The people of the tribe normally reside in the caves in the region. Nandi Hills - Tourist attraction


Nandi Hills is hill station situated in the state of Karnataka, India. The hill falls in the district of Chikkaballapur. Brahmashram is another place of interest near Nandi Hills. It is beautiful and attractive cave. The place is believed to be meditating place of sage Ramkrishana Paramhansa who was one of the greatest devotee of Goddess Kali. Cool weather near the cave attracts many tourists.

Tourist places in Bhilwara


Bhilwara is a city located in Mewar region of the state of Rajasthan, India. It is known for its cloth industries. It is also called as the City of Cloth, Culture and Calmness. It is the head quarter of the district of the same name ‘’Bhilwara District’’. Major industry in Bhilwara is textile industry with more than 4000 units in the town. The city is also known as textile city of India. It is the largest manufacturer of suiting, fabric and yarn in India. It accounts about 50 % of total products of polyester/viscose fabrics (suiting) in India.
Places to visit: There are many places of attraction in and around Bhilwara. The old fort and the city of Bijolia are situated just 50 km away on Bundi and Chittaurgarh road. It was known as Vindhyavali in ancient times.

Hajaresvara  :
On the eastern side of the city there are three beautiful temples. Among them the temple of Hajaresvera is a prominent religious place. The temple is surrounded by thousands of small Lingas and hence it is called as Hajaresvara or Sahastralinga.
                                      
Menal : 
Known for beautiful waterfall, Menal is located just 80km away from Bhil wara. The height of the water fall is about 150 feet and it is in V shaped valley. The water falls with great force and sound of it can be heard from a long distance.

Shahpura :
Shahapura is famous for 700 year old Painting. It is situated 55 km away on Jahajpur- Devli road. Built by Rana Kumbha, Mandalgarh fort is situated about 52 km from Bhilwara. The fort is 1 m long and elevated at the height of 1850 feet.     There are number of temples in the vicinity of the fort.

 Triveni :
Triveni is located 40 km from Bhilwara on Kota Road. The place is popularly known as Triveni Chauhara where three rivers meet. The temple of Shiva is situated in the coast line and it remains submerged most of the time during rainy season. On the occasion of Poornima, Amavasa, Kartik and Magh month, people from other places come to take a dip in this holy water.  One of the most beautiful forts of Rajasthan, Badnore Fort is situated 70 km away from Bhilwara. The fort is seven storied and one of the best examples of medieval military style of architecture.

Meja Dam :
Meja Dam is one of the major tourist places around Bhilwara. It is situated about 17km away from Bhilwara. It is a major water reservoir for Bhilwara residents. Surrounding area is full of beautiful natural sights.

Tourist Places in Nathdwara

  Nathdwara is a small town in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated on Banas River and falls in Rajsamand district of the state. It is a major pilgrimage center where Lord Krishna is worshipped. Literally Nathdwara means doorway to Lord. Here Lord refers the Lord Krishna.

Srinathji Temple :
Nathdwara is popular for its Srinathji Temple. It is the temple of Lord Krishna. The temple contains an idol of Srinathji who is one of the incarnations of Lord Krishna. The temple is built in 117th century. The idol in the temple is of young Krishna with Govardhan Mountain on his hand. The idol is made of single black Marble and fascinates the onlookers.       





Charbhuja Temple :
Charbhuja temple is another prominent place of worship. It is situated in Charbhuja near Nathdwara. The temple is built in beautiful architecture and attracts many devotees throughout the year.





Dwrakadhish :Dwrakadhish is another religious place to be seen around Nathdwara. Eklingi, Sahitya Mandal Library and Sanvaria Seth are other interesting places to be seen in and around Nathdwara.

 Apart from the main attraction of Srinathji temple, the town is also popular for Pichhwai Paintings, milk-made sweets, handmade terracotta and ivory articles. Pichhwai painting is the paintings on large cloth. The paintings mainly depict the incidence related to Lord Krishna.  Nathdwara is also known as Apollo of Mewar. Haweli music of Nathdwara is also famous. It is the devotional music played and sung according to seasons, festivals and the section of the day.
   On the occasion of Janmashtmi and Holi many devotees from far and wide visit the place. Besides, the festival of Annakutta is also celebrated in the town with much pomp and show. The festival of Annakutta is related with Lord Krishna’s lifting the Govardhan Mountain.

 You can get down at Udaipur railway station which is about 52 km away from Nathdwara. From Udaipur you can take state run bus or taxi and reach Nathdwara. Patiala is a city in Indian state of Punjab. It is the headquarter of the district of the same name. The city is known for its turban (a traditional headgear) Salwar, Juti, Patiala peg etc. 
Quila Mubarak :
Quila Mubarak is located in the city. It is a castle built in 1763 by Baba Ala Singh. Quila Mubarak literally means fortunate castle.  It is located in the heart of the city. It is spread over 10 acres of land and house the main palace Quila Androon which literally means inner fort. The castle also houses a Darbar Hall, Ran Baas and a Guest house. Quila Mubarak was the main residence of Patiala royals. The castle is built in Mughal and Rajasthani architectural styles.
Sheesh Mahal :
Sheesh Mahal is another interesting place in Patiala. The Mahal is a part of old Motibag palace which was built in 9th century. Sheesh Mahal literally means the palace of mirrors. The Mahal houses a large number of frescoes. A lake is also situated in front of the palace and it adds the beauty of it. A bridge called as Lakshman Jhula built across the lake attracts many tourists. You can also visit a museum situated nearby the Palace.  It is the museum which houses the largest collection of medals in the world. The collection was made by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh.

Baradari Garden :
Baradari  Garden is another place of attraction in the city of Patiala. The garden is located at Shernawala gate. The garden was set up during the rule of Maharaja Ranjidera Singh. The garden has many tall trees, Shrubs  and flowers. It also houses the statue of Maharaja Rajindera Singh.
