Sonepur Cattle Fair, Bihar

 
Sonepur, a small town of Bihar, is famous for its fair popularly called Sonepur Mela. Sonepur Mela is known for its cattle fair (especially elephant) and sometimes it is also called as Sonepur cattle fair.  Sonepur cattle fair is Asia’s one of the biggest cattle fairs. The town of Sonepur, situated at just 22 km of Patna -capital city of Bihar, hosts this fair every year in the month of November.
Sonepur fair has historical importance as it was visited by royal Rajas and Nawabs in the past. They used to camp there during the fair. Sonepur fair holds religious significance as it was held on the full moon day of Kartik month (November) which is considered to be the most sacred month of Hindu calendar. Sonepur is located at the meeting point of two holy rivers namely Ganga and Gandak. People visiting Sonepur fair are seen taking bath in this holy confluence point of two rivers and seeking bless in Hariharnath Mandir located there.
A Sonepur fair is an event and a place where thousands of cattle are sold and bought. The cattle particularly include elephant, horse, camel etc. the fair is held on large ground and is visited by lakhs of people throughout the country and from abroad as well. The fair is not just confined to cattle fair, it is also an event when numerous cultural and entertaining programs like dance, music, folk arts etc are performed.

About the city:
Chakrata is hill station in the district of Dehradun of Indian state of Uttarakhand. Elevated at the height of 7000 ft it is one of the major tourist destinations of the state. It was mainly developed as a hill station by the British during colonial rule. Now it houses a cantonment area. Rani Ka Talab :
Apart from the places of religious significance, Ambala also hosts other places of interest like Rani Ka Talab and Planetarium. Rani Ka Talab is historical legacy of the city. This 500 years old pond was constructed by Raja Ranjit Singh of Chhachhrauli. It is located in Ambala Cantt and is under the control of Indian Army. Ambala Planetarium :It is one of the oldest planetariums in the country. It was set up in the 1950s. Designed by Pt. Popular for its crater and lake, Lonar is a town in the state of Maharashtra, India. It located in the district of Buldhana. It is situated at distance of 140 km from Buldhana and 160 km from Aurangabad. It is very scorching in summer as temperature rises high. October to February is the best time to visit Lonar. A lake then evolved in the crater of Lonar is alkaline and saline in nature. This makes the water salty and therefore this salt water Lake of Lonar is the only salt water lake made on Basalt rocks in the world. It has the average diameter of 1.2km. Lonar Lake has become a subject of research for many like geologists, ecologists, archeologist and astronomers. The lake is visited by many scientifically oriented people and many other people who are curious about the strange lake. The lake does not house any living organisms in it and if roots of any tree get in to it the tree loses its life soon. The lake is surrounded by many trees and various species of bird are seen flying around the lake.

Tourist Places in Wayanad,Kerala

 Wayanad is beautiful hill town in Indian state of Kerala. It is main place of district Wayanad district. It situated amid the mist-clad mountain, dense forests and lush green plantation. The name Wayanad is derived from the word Vayal Nadu. Vayal literally means Paddy and Nadu means land thus indicating the large fields of paddy cultivation in Wayanad. Meenmutty Falls is another place of attraction in Wayanad district. Gurgling down of water from the height of 300 m is quite fascinating. Srisailam, known for its many ancient temples, is a town in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is situated on the banks of Krishna River. The town comes under Kurnool district of the state.

The temple of Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna :
The temple of Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna is the most important temple in the region. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (most sacred places devoted lord Shiva).

Bhramaramba Devi Temple :
Bhramaramba Devi Temple is another famous temple in Srisailam. The temple is situated on Nallamala hill and is dedicated to the Goddess of Parvati, consort of Lord Shiva. The Hathakesvara Temple, Sakshi Ganpati temple and ShiKareshawara temple are some of many other temples to be seen in Srisailam.

Srisailam Sanctuary :
Visit Srisailam Sanctuary to watch various animals in their natural habitat and experience breathtaking wildlife. The sanctuary is famous for tiger as it is one of the largest tiger reserves in India. Sloth dear, leopard, jungle cat, hyena, deer, pangolin and palm civet are other animals you can see here. The Reserve was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary in 1992.

Srisailam Dam :
Take some time out to visit the Srisailam Dam. This 512 m long dam is constructed on the river of Krishna. The dam is situated amid the picturesque nature.

Akkamahadevi Cave :
Akkamahadevi Cave is another place you can visit in Srisailam.

Reach Srisailam by state run bus or other private vehicles like car and luxury bus from Hyderabad and other cities and town of the state. Markapur serves as the closest railhead to Srisailam and is well connected to other parts of the state. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is nearest airbase to Srisailam. It about 232 km away and is well linked to other major cities of India and other countries.

Tourist Places in Panhala

Panhala is a popular hill station in the state of Maharashtra, India. The hill town is located in Kolhapur district of the state. It is situated at the altitude of 3177 ft and is adorned with beautiful nature. Panhala has rich heritage of history and many ancient monuments and forts. Panhala Fort :

Teen Darvaza :
Teen Darvaza is another place of interest in Panhala. It literally means three doors. It is a part of the Panhala Fort. These are three big consecutive door gates on western wall of the fort. There is a well located at the corner of Teen Darvaza. It is said that through this well the message was being conveyed to the enemies. 


Jyotiba temple :
Jyotiba temple is place of worship located near the Panhala. It is situated at the altitude of 3124 ft. According to mythology it is believed that three gods Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu combined together in one form, known as Jyotiba to kill the demon Ratnasur. The temple is visited many devotees from across the state.



Botanical Garden :
Do not miss the Botanical Garden if you are here. It is the place which offers cool and calm ambience. Wide green lawns and tall trees make this place a popular picnic spot. Sunset Point is another place of attraction you can visit. It is situated at the northern end of the famous Panhala fort. It offers the tourists fascinating views of sunset. 

Kolhapur railway station serves as the nearest rail head to Panhala. It is just 30 km away from the hill town. The railway station is well connected by many trains to other cities and towns of the state. Kolhapur also serves as the closest airbase to Panhala. Tourist Places in Saputara, Gujarat

Saputara is a beautiful hill station in the state of Gujarat, India. It is located in the Dang forest and comes under the Dang district of the state. Saputara, abode of serpents as it literally means, is perched at the altitude of 1000 m on Sahyadari mountain range. The hill town is situated on the   border of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Saputara Lake is a beautiful spot in Saputara. The lake is perfect picnic spot. It is surrounded by many fun facilities like play ground and a park. One can also enjoy here the boating experience in the lake.

Sun rise point near Saputara is another interesting place you can visit. It offers the tourists fascinating views of sun rise while sunset point in Saputara present majestic views of Dang Forest along with amazing views of sun set.
