Tourist Places in Vadodara
Vadodara Tourist attractions: Formerly known as Baroda, Vadodara
is the third largest city in the state of Gujarat. This historical city of
Vadodara is perched on bank of river Vishwamitri and is known for housing many
places of interest in and around it.
Kirti Mandir: It is located to the north of a
statue of Prince Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad. This E shaped monument was constructed
to commemorate the cremation of member of Gaekwad family. This massive
structure contains domes, balconies, terraces and central Shikhara with 33 m
height. It was built by Maharaja Sayaji Gaekwad. Kirti Mandir houses several
statues and photographs of member of the royal family.
Baroda Museum: Built in the year 1894, Baroda
Museum in Vadodara is among few most famous museums of India. Collection of
original paintings of British painter Turner is the prize possession of the
museum. A huge skeleton of a blue whale and Egyptian Mummy are other major
highlights of the museum. Akota bronzes of the 5th century, a fine
collection Mughal miniatures and a gallery of Tibetan arts can also been seen
in Baroda Museum.
Khanderao Market: It is an impressive historical
structure built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad. It was built in 1905 and later
on was handed over to municipality of Vadodara to mark the silver jubilee of
the administration of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad. The architecture of the
entrance of this structure draws similarity with those of the gate of Dhaboi
Fort.
Besides, the city of Vadodara is home to many other places of
attraction. Laxmi Vilas Palace, Makarpura Palace, Maharaja Fatehsingh Museum,
Nazarbaug palace and Sayaji Baug are some of them.

Maharana Ranjit Singh War Museum : Located just 5 km away from Ludhiana railway station, Maharana Ranjit Singh War Museum is another major attraction of the city. At the very entrance of the museum, one can find a massive statue of Maharana Ranjit Singh perched in the throne. Tanks, anti-aircraft gun, car scout and old Sukhoi fighter aircraft can be found placed near the statue. There are twelve galleries which cater the war subject like Kargil war and also to ancient history.
Punjab Agriculture University Museum, Pir-I-Dastgir Shrine, Bhiwanwali Masjid and Gurudwara Nanaksar Jagroan are other places of interest and worship to be visited in and around the city of Ludhiana.

Among prominent festivals of Vadodara the festival of Navratri
is of upmost importance. Navratri literally means nine nights and that is
exactly the festival is celebrated for nine days (nights). Navratri is a
colorful festival of the state of Gujarat. The festival is celebrated in honor
of goddess Durga. Though the festival is also celebrated in other parts of the
country, celebration of the festival in Vadodara and other part of the state of
Gujarat assumes significance owing to its attractive dance forms of Ras and Garba
performed on the occasion.
The International Kite festival is another major cultural
event hosted in Vadodara along with other parts of the state. The Kite festival
is organized every year on 14th January. The festival also coincides
with the festival of Uttarayan which is also known as Makara Sankranti in other
parts of the country and is marked by the cosmological event of the Sun
entering into the axis of Capricorn. On the occasion of the festival in
Vadodara thousand of colorful kites are seen flying high in the blue sky
offering fascinating view to the thousands of visitors gathered on the
occasion.

Perched on the bank of holi river of Ganga,

Patna Museum: Established in 1917, Patna Museum

of having the collection of relic casket of Lord Buddha. This casket was found
during excavation of a Stupa of sixth century at Vaishali. It contained the
sacred ashes of Lord Buddha and other articles. The museum also displays the
several stone and bronze sculptures. Deedarganj Yakshi, the beautifully carved
statue of a female, is another prized collection of Patna Museum.
Golghar: Golghar is a historic structure
built in the year 1786 by Captain John Garstin. Built in beehive like shape,
Golghar is a huge granary. This massive
structure is about 29 m high and was built for storing grains for the British
army. Golghar has spiral stairway around it which offer the beautiful views of
Patna city.
Quila House: Quila House, otherwise known as
Jalan House, is famous museum in Patna. Built in 1954 by late Diwan Bahadur
Radha Krishna Jalan, Jalan House is home to a rich collection of art objects.
It also displays the rich collection of Chinese paintings, Jade collections and
many works of art.
Apart from these the city of Patna also houses many other
places of attractions worth visiting. Patna Planetarium, Takht Sri Harmandir
Sahib, Kumhrar and Hanuman Mandir are some of them.

Fair and festival in Patna
Patna is the Capital city of the Bihar state and is earlier known as Pataliputra. Rich in historical and cultural heritage, the city of Patna celebrates many festivals with much fanfare. This sacred place of confluence is situated near Hajipur just 20 km away from the city of Patna. Kartiki Pournima falls in the month of November. The biggest cattle fair of Asia- Sonepur Fair is held every on the occasion of Kartiki fair. The fair traces back its origin many centuries ago. The fair is held at on the bank of the confluence Ganga and Gandak Rivers near Hajipur

Tourist Places in Shimla

Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, is much sought after tourist destination of India. Tara Devi temple, summer hill, Kali and Bari temple are some of the many other places of interest situated in and around Shimla.
