Tourist Places in Madikeri, Karanataka

Formerly known as Mercara, Madikeri is a famous hill station in the state of Karnataka, india. It is also the head town of Kodagu district. Madikeri is home to Kodva tribe. The attire of people of Kodva tribe is distinct from other people. These people are seen carrying their traditional weapon like knives. These people are also known for their traditional martial war dances. The town of Madikeri is popular tourist destination and offers its tourists  beautiful natural surroundings to explore the nature.
Places of interest:
Madikeri is a major tourist destination in Karnataka and therefore attracts many tourists throughout the year. There are some interesting places in and around Madikeri.
Madikeri fort : 
The fort was built by Mudduraja in 17th century and then renovated in 1790 by Tipu Sultan. Tipu sultan also named the place Jaffarabad. The fort was taken into control by Doddavira Rajendra and then by the British. There are two life size statues of elephant at the entrance of the fort. A church is also situated in a part of the fort. Kote ganpati, the famos temple of Lord Ganesha is also situated at the main entrance of the fort.    

Raja’s Seat :
It literally means the seat of the king. It is believed that the king of Kodgu used to spen his evenings here. It is beautiful garden situated in Madikeri. Here you can enjoy fascinating views of sunset and other majestic views of surrounding hills and valleys.  



Omkareshwara temple :
It is temple dedicatd to Lord Shiva. It was built by king Lingarajendra in 1920. The temple is built in Muslim and Gothic architecture styles and is located in the center of the city.

 


Abbey falls :
Abbey falls is situated near Madikeri and is the main attraction of the tourists. It is amazing to see the water of Kaveari river falling fron the height of 70 feet. The hanging Bridge built on the gorge offers beautiful views of the falls.




Bhagamandala, Chettalli, and Talacauveri are other  place of interest to be seen in and around Madikeri. Madikeri also offers the tourists adventurous activity like trekking. There are number of trekking trails which adventurous tourists can enjoy.

How to get there: Madikeri is situated on the Mysore – Mangalore state highway and it is, thereby, connected to other parts of the state and the country. It is just 120 km from Mysore and 136 km from Mangalore. Many state run buses and other private vehicle are available from Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and other   cities and  towns of the state. Madikeri is not linked by rail but Hasan, Kannur are nearest railway stations to it. they each are about 115 km away from the town.

Tourist Places in Mount Abu, Rajasthan

Mount Abu is the only hill station of the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated at the altitude of 1220m and is the highest peak in Rajasthan. It is situated in Aravali range of Rajasthan. It is also known as Arbudaranya. As the name is believed is derived from Arbuda, the serpent god. Cording to mythology the serpent came down from the mountain to save Nandi (the bull of Lord Shiva). Mount Abu offers cool and calm ambience and is adorned with beautiful nature. It attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year. It is also a major pilgrimage center for the Jains as it house many important Jain temples.

Dilwara temples :-

Dilwara temples of Jain are known for their beautiful architecture. These temples are a group of five temples all of them date back to 11 to 13th century. These temples have been beautifully carved out white Marbles and present a monumental attraction.



Nakki Lake :-

Nakki Lake is popular tourist spot in Mount Abu and offers tourist calm and cool atmosphere. The lake is surrounded by fascinating lush green. It is also the only artificial lake situated at the height of more than 1200 m in India.


Wildlife sanctuary :-

Wildlife sanctuary is another place you can visit near in Mount Abu. The sanctuary was established in the year 1960 and occupies an area of 290sq km. the sanctuary is home to many species of birds and animals.

 



Sunset point :-

Sunset point is yet another place of interest in Mount Abu. As the name suggest it is place from where one can enjoy the amazing views of sunset. Sunset point is located near the Nakki Lake.

 



Toad Rock :-

Toad Rock is another interesting place to be seen near the Nakki Lake. Adhar Devi temple and Doodh Baori are other religious places to be visited here.

Dabok airport at Jaipur is the nearest airbase to Mount Abu. It is about 210km from mount Abu and well linked by several flights to other major cities of India.

Famous Fort Murud Janjira Maharashtra



   Murud Janjira is a famous fort in the state of Maharashtra, India. The fort is located on an island near coastal village of Murud in the district of Raigad. The fort was occupied by Siddis dynasty and is famous for being the only fort along the Indian coastal region which was could not be conquered despite many attempts made by British, Maratha and Dutch. Konkani and Marathi are widely spoken languages in the region while Hindi is also spoken by some. September to June is best time to visit Murud Janjira.
   Murud Janjira fort is regarded as one the strongest sea forts in India. The fort is perched on oval-shaped rock off Arabian Sea coast and it was built in 16th century. It is about 165 km away from Mumbai. The fort can be reached by sailboats. These are available from Rajapur jetty. The main gate of the fort facing Rajapur on shore can be seen only when we are very close to it. The fort is strengthened with about 19 bastions and it houses several domestic and European canons.  This fort once has all the facilities like palaces, quarters of officers, mosque and a large water tank. However the palace of Nawabs of Janjira is still intact and in good shape.    
    Murud beach is another attraction in near the fort. This 1.7 km long beach is the delight for the tourists. Gol Ghumbaj, Kasa fort,Garambi Falls Ahamedganj Palace and Nandgaon are some of many other places of attraction near the fort of Murud Janjira.
You can get down at Roha railway station. It is the nearest railway head to Murud and is about 23 km away from it. There are many state run buses and other private vehicles available from Roha, Mumbai

 Matheran is a small town in the district of Raigad in Indian state of Maharashtra.  It is one of the most popular hill stations in the state. It is situated on the Western Ghats and is at the altitude of about 800 m. It is in of Karjat Tehsil of Raigad district. Matheran, jungle on the head as it literally means, is famous tourist destination in the state. It is eco- sensitive area recognized by the government of India. Tourist places in Karnala,Maharashtra

Famous for its bird sanctuary and fort, Karnala is a small town in the district of Raigad of Indian state of Maharashtra. Adorned with natural beautiful surroundings and serene environment, Karnala is a major picnic spot for many tourists and bird lovers. Nestled with dense forests and other attraction of the nature,   Karnala is the ideal place for nature lovers. Resident and migratory birds as well are found here. The sanctuary is also home to many rare species of birds like ashy minimet and spotted heart wood peckers. Karnala Shiva Temple :-
Situated at Abernath near Karnala Shiva Temple is another religious significance place. Tourist places in Kamshet,Maharashtra

Kamshet is popular hill station situated in the district of Pune of Indian state of Maharashtra.  It is just 11km from twin-hill station of Lonavala and Khandala. Kamshet is famous picnic spot to spend holidays. It is located at the altitude of 2200 feet. Its temperature ranges from 25 to 40c in summer and from 10 to 26c in winter.  It is gifted with lush greeneries and many beautiful lakes around.  Marathi is widely spoken language of the region. Though Kamshet is visited by the tourists throughout the year, October to March is the best time to visit it.

Ancient Caves of Karla :-

It is another tourist attraction. These Buddhist caves are believed to be built in 1st century.  Other than statues of Buddha and Stupas, The Caves houses sculptures of dancing animals. 






Bhaja Caves:-
Bhaja Caves is yet another Buddhist Caves to be seen here. In theses caves there are about 18 rock cut caves and are believed to be built in 200 BC. The caves have 14 Stupas with 5 ones being inside while the other 9 ones are outside the caves. It is around 59 k.m. away from Pune.
 



Shri Kondeshwar Temple:- 
It also known as elephant temple, is situated at Phohara near Kamshet. Surrounded by lush green forest, the temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva. Many devotees and tourist visit the spot throughout the year.



Vadivali Lake :-

Tourist places in Palampur,Himachal Pradesh

Situated at Sahyadri Hills, Amboli is one of the most popular hill stations of the state of Maharashtra. Tourist places in Lonavala, Maharashtra


Lonavala is a city and hill station in Indian state of Maharashtra. Bhalu Dam:
 It is an interesting place to visit near Ranikhet. It is small man-made lake and is a nice place to spend holidays. World famous Chaubatia:
It is another place to be seen near Ranikhet. It is known for its wide orchards of delicious apples, peaches, plums and Apricots. Chaubatia has grown in to popular picnic spot over the years as it an ideal place to explore surrounding nature. One can also see from here the beautiful views of snow covered Himalayan Mountains.



Jhula Devi temple:
It is situated near Ranikhet. It is built in 8th century and is dedicated to goddess Durga. The temple has large cluster of bells the sound of which can be heard from a long distance. The temple situated in serene environment and is visited by many devotees and tourists as well.




Mankameshwar temple:
It is another important place of worship in Ranikhet. It is located Pithoragarh near Ranikhet. The temple is built by Kumaon regiment of India. It is often visited by a good number of devotees and people related with defense.




Dwarahat near Ranikhet is small town and houses many ancient temples. Here you can visit Shakti Devi temple and the temple of Naithana Devi. Majhkhali is another place of interest situated near Ranikhet. It fascinates the tourists with its imposing natural beauty. The place is gifted with hilly terrains, calm and cool ambience and beautiful natural surroundings.
Sitalkhet and Upat are other places of attraction to be seen near Ranikhet. Ranikhet also offers its adventurous tourists thrilling experience of trekking as it house many trekking trails in and around it.
