World's Largest Camel Fair at Pushkar Mela, Rajasthan

'Pushkar', a small town located about 20 km from Ajmer in Rajasthan, is one of the famous pilgrimage destination in India. The place is primary famous for two things, first is temple of 'Lord Brahma' and second is 'Camel fair'.

Contrary to the legends and various version of “Why there is no Temple of Lord Brahma”, the temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan remains the most famous “Brahma” temple in the world. This temple is built with marble and is decorated with silver coins and there is a silver turtle on the floor of the temple.
It is a Hindu Temple located near Pushkar lake having 52 Ghats in Rajasthan (India). On Kartik Poornima, a festival dedicated to Lord Brahma is held when large number of pilgrims visit the temple, after bathing in the sacred lake.
World's Largest Camel Fair
The place becomes tourist attraction for one more famous reason i.e “Pushkar Camel Fair- the largest Camel trade fair in the world” during this time. This colorful celebration in the golden sand of Thar , is the real mesmerizing experience for the tourist. Apart from trading in the livestock the fair also organizes various other competitions like bridal makeup contest, big mustaches contest and matka phode contest, a unique cricket match between the local team of Pushkar's residents and a foreign team.

How to reach Pushkar-
By Train:
If you are planning to travel by train then to reach here Ajmer is the neartes railway station to Pushkar. From there a local connectivity is Ajmer-Pushkar Passenger which departs Ajmer between 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and arrives in Pushkar at 10.30 a.m.
By Road:
From Ajmer you may also plan for a road journey which is 30 minutes drive. You can rent a chauffeur driven cab from around 300+ Indian cities to plan a road trip to Pushkar.
By Air:
The air connectivity provided to “Pushkar” is through 2 places, one is Kishangarh which is 40 km from Ajmer and the second is Jaipur 146.5 km i.e around 3 hours journey.

Due to great flow of people visiting during this period, the demand for accommodations increase accordingly. The rates would be comparatively high therefore plan in advance and book guesthouses. Dussehra is one of the biggest festival in India and celebrated with great pomp throughout the country, and Mysore's Dussehra is quite special in itself as it has rich history of more than 400 years. During the festival of Navratri, Mysore palace is decorated with about one lakh lamps and remain opened to the common people. The popular part of the festival procession is the Jumbo Savari which is held every year on the day of Vijayadashmi. On the day The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari first worshiped by the Royal couple of Mysore and then a procession is taken out of it. Jumbo savari starts from Mysore palace and ends at Banimandap. The procession is accompanied by music bands, dance groups, armored forces, elephants, horses and camels. The main attraction of this procession on the this day is the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari which is placed on the 750 kg golden howdah placed on a decorated elephant. The idol worshiped by the royal family and is a principal deity of Mysore.
There are also various events like sports, food festivals, film festivals held at palace area.
How to reach Mysuru:
Mysore is easily accessible from all major cities by plane, road and train. If you do not get a direct flight, you can reach Bangalore and cab from Bangalore to Mysuru. The distance from Mysore to Bengaluru is about 145 km.

There is no airport in the town but the Jamnager and Porbandar is the nearest airport for it.

Built with excellent engineering ,Wilson Dam is the largest earthen dam in India. It is built on Pravara river in 1910. Usually during monsoon the gates of the dam are opened to release the excess water and becomes the major tourist attraction in and around area.Adjacent to it a garden full of trees and natural green carpet add more to the beauty of Wilson Dam.

With a river bed of approx 140m broad ,this is one among the largest falls in India.Situated near Ranad region this falls receive water from Wilson Dam . Maintained by administration this is Much developed tourist spot compare to other spots . Safe walkways are constructed at some places over the river bed to provide a better view of the water fall.Parking and local eating facility is also available.

Bhandardara is connected though all the major cities in Maharashtra.
Mumbai to Bhandardara -> It’s 3 hour 45 minutes (163.6 km) from Mumbai . Bhandardara does not have a train station, and the nearest station is Igatpuri, at a distance of 28 kms from Bhandardara.
Pune to Bhandardara- It’s 4 hour 45 minutes (172.6 km) from Pune .

A quick trek guide to Korigad Fort

Stands at 929 meters high above the sea level in the Sahyadri mountain range, Korigad fort is one of the most preferred trekking destinations in Maharashtra for one day trek from Pune and Mumbai. Fort can be visited throughout the year. Even the trek to this korigad fort hill is also a great night trekking adventure and is comfortable to trek in the summer months. The fort is located around 24 KM from Lonavala, Maharashtra.
The trek to Korigad can be catogories in easy level trek. Everyone can enjoy the trek to this fort even if you are the beginner. It takes around 1 hour to reach the top of the fort.
There are two ways to reach the top of fort; one is from Peth Shahpur and second is from Ambavne village. Starting trek from Peth Shahpur route is considered to be the easier one than second mentioned route. Enroute you can have a magnificent views of tiny waterfalls and lush greenery.
There is not enough information available about the history of this fort. This fort was incorporated into his Maratha kingdom by 'Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj' in 1657 and remain under their empire until 1818. Approximately the 2 km fort walls for fort circumference are still nearly intact.
