Viramgam is a city
in Ahmedabad district of Indian state of Gujarat. It is served with a railway
junction which is managed by Ahmedabad Junction of Western Railway Zone. Viramgam
Railway Junction is perched on Surendranagar-Palanpur rail route and is linked
by several trains to other parts of India. Viramgam is also connected by
several state highways to other parts of Gujarat.
Numerous places of
interest are located in and around Viramgam. Perched at a distances of just 38
km from Viramgam, Nalsarovar Lake is major tourist attraction in the region. It
is an ideal place for bird lovers as it attracts a number of domestic and
migratory birds. Munsar Lake and Gangasar Lake are other interesting places to
see in Viramgam. Viramgam also hosts an annual fair called Anand Mela in
Shravan Month. The fair draws thousands of visitors from far and wide. Nearby
major cities and towns to Viramgam include Modhera, Ahmedabad, Mehsana and
Surendranagar.
Some of the prominent
trains passing through Viramgam Railway Junction include Veraval-Pune Exp,
Jabalpur-Somnath Exp, Porbandar-Howrah
Exp, Rajkot-Secunderabad Exp, Kakinada-Bhavnagar Exp, Mumbai Central-Porbandar
Exp, etc. Ahmedabad which lies just about 70 km away from Viramgam serves to be
the closest airbase to it.
