Shahganj is a city in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh state. It
is a major railway junction which comes under Lucknow Junction division of
Northern Railway Zone. Shahganj Railway Junction is perched on Ayodhya-Jaunpur
rail route. SHG is the station code of Shahganj. It has rail connectivity to
Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Jhansi and many
other cities of India. There are many places of interest which are easily
accessible from Shahganj Junction. Jaunpur, Sarnath, Pratapgarh and Basti are
some of them.
Trains passing through Shahganj Railway Junction include Kurla-
Gorakhpur exp, Azamgarh-Delhi Exp, Kolkata-Jammu Tawi exp, Dehradun-Howrah Exp,
Varanasi Bareilly Exp, Muzaffarpur-Delhi Exp, Patna-Mathura Exp,
Jodhpur-Varanasi Exp, Kanpur-Chhapra Exp, etc. State highway no 7 and 34 also
connect Shahganj to other parts Uttar Pradesh, while Varanasi Airport serves to
be closest airbase to Shahganj.
