During these festivals Samayapuram temple witnesses the thousands of people thronging there from across the country. Jallikattu is another prominent cultural event organized in several villages near Trichy. Jallikattu is bull catching event organized mainly during the celebration of Pongal festival.  Allur Jallathiru Vizha and Vaikunta Ekadasi are other prominent festivals celebrated in Trichy with much fanfare.
