Yelahanka is a suburban
area of Bangalore city in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is served with a
railway junction which comes under Bangalore Cy Jn of South Western Railway
Zone. Yelahanka Railway Junction is perched on Bangalore-Bangarapet rail route.
YNK is the station code of Yelahanka Jn. Yelhanka Kere Lake and Puttenhalli Lake
are major picnic spots located near Yelahanka. One can also enjoy watching
numerous species of domestic and migratory birds there. Those places have
officially been declared as bird sanctuary.
Yelahanka lies just
about 17 km away from the heart of Bangalore which serves to be the capital
city of Karnataka. Other nearby places of interest which one can easily access
from Yelahanka are Savandurga, Nandi hills, Shivgange, Lepakshi, etc. Some of
the prominent trains which pass through Yelahanka Railway Junction include
Mysore-Sainagar Shirdi Exp, Puri-Bangalore Spl, Hubli-Bangalore Exp, Nanded
–Bangalore Exp, Sainagar Shirdi-Chennai Exp, etc. Bengaluru International
Airport of Bangalore (21 Km) is the closest airbase to Yelahanka.
