Siwan is a town and the headquarters of Siwan district in the state of Bihar. It is served with a major railway junction which comes under Varanasi Jn of North Eastern Railway Zone. Siwan Railway Junction is perched on Chhapra-Gorakhpur rail line and is connected by several trains to other parts of India. SV is the station code of Siwan Jn. Motihari, Kesariya, Kushinagar and Vaishali are some of the prominent places of interest which can be accessed from Siwan Jn. National highway no 85 (Chhapra to Gopalganj) and several other highways connect the town of Siwan to other cities and towns of Bihar state. Patna Airport serves to be the closest airbase to Siwan.
Darbhanga-Delhi Spl, Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Spl, Barauni-Gwalior Mail, Chhapra-Kurla (MH) Exp, Jammu Tawi-Muzaffarpur Exp, Saharsa-Amritsar Exp, Kathgodam-Howrah Jn, Guwahati-Lalgarh Exp, Kolkata-Gorakhpur Exp, Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Exp and many other trains pass through Siwan Jn.
