Samalkota Junction
Samalkota is a town in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh state. It is served with a major railway junction which belongs to Vijayawada Junction of South Central Railway Zone. Samalkota Railway Junction falls on Chennai-Howrah Rail line and is connected by several trains to other cities and towns of India. SLO is the station code of Samalkota Junction. The town of Samalkota is an industrial destination hosting several industrial units. The town also hosts a prominent temple of Lord Shiva which attracts  thousands of devotees from far and wide.
Kakinada is a prominent port city of Andhra Pradesh. It is just about 15 km south east of Samalkota. It serves to be major tourist destination in the state. Places of interest located in and around Kakinada include Drakasharama Bheemeshwara Swami Temple, Annavaram village, and Antarvedi and Coringa wildlife sanctuary. Samalkota has both rail and road connectivity to Kakinada. Other nearby places which are accessible from Samalkota Junction are Papi Kondalu, Konaseema, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam.
Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Spl, Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Shirdi Spl, Tirupati Bhubaneswar Spl, Bhubaneswar-Manmad Spl, Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Exp, Howrah-Secunderabad Exp, Pondicherry-Bhubaneswar Exp and many other trains pass through Samalkota Railway Junction. The town of Samalkota is also linked by several highways to other parts of Andhra Pradesh, while Visakhapatnam Airport serves to be the closest airbase to the town.
