Kozhikode is a beautiful city of God’s Own Country- Kerala. Located in Malabar Coast, Kozhikode, otherwise known as Calicut, is famous for its pristine beaches and other several tourist attractions :
Tali Temple: Tali Temple is a prominent place of religious significance in Kozhikode. It is an old temple of Lord Shiva and was built during the period of Zamorin rule. On the occasion of Malayalam New Year, the temple witnesses thousand of devotees thronging there from far and wide. Dolphin’s Point, Beypore, Elathur and Mananchira Square are other places of attraction to be visited around the city of Kozhikode.
Kappad Beach: Famous for its historical significance, Kappad beach is located just 16 away from Kozhikode railway station. It is the same place where the famous world explorer Vasco Da Gama set his first feet on his visit to India way back in 1498. To commemorate this historic incidence, a stone memorial has been erected there. Also known as Kapppakkadavu beach, Kappad beach also serves as a perfect retreat from hectic urban life.
Pazhassiraja Museum: It is another place of interest one can visit near
Kozhikode, north Kerala and situated just 6 km away from the heart of the city,
Pazhassiraja Museum is home to ancient articles like coins, models of temples,
antique bronzes, mural paintings and other artifacts. One can also visit beautiful
art gallery located adjacent to Pazhassiraja Museum. The gallery displays the
fine collection of paintings made by many renowned artists of Kerala.
Kadalundi: It is a bird sanctuary located in the Malappuram district of the state of Kerala and at the meeting place of Kadalundi River into Arabian Sea. Spread over wide area, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is home to over 100 domestic bird species. About 60 species migratory birds can also be spotted here. It is situated near the sea shore which is still unexploited area and thus serves to be perfect spot for the tourist to relax and unwind.
