Shoranpur
is a town in Palakkad district of Indian state of Kerala. It is a railway
junction which belongs to Palakkad Jn division of Southern Railway Zone.
Shoranpur railway station is one of the largest railway stations in the state. It
has four rail lines leading to Palakkad, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Nilambur. SRR
is the station code of Shoranpur Jn.
Shoranpur
town is perched on the banks of Bharathapuzha River. It is home to Kerala
Kalamandalam, the premier learning center of Kathakali, Koodiyattam and other
classical arts. Other places of interest located near Shoranpur are Indian
Institute of Panchkarma, Kayiliyad Pooram and Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam. There are several major cities and places of
tourist attraction located around Shoranpur. Guruvayur, Thrissur, Palakkad,
Malappuram and Malampuza are some of them.
Trains
passing through Shoranpur Railway Junction include Madgaon-Ernakulam Exp,
Pune-Ernakulam Exp, Amritsar-Kochuveli Exp, Chennai Central-Mangalore Exp,
Mangalore- Jammu Tawi Exp, Trivandrum- Mangalore Exp, Trivandrum- Kurla (MH)
Exp, Trivandrum-Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Exp, Veraval- Trivandrum Exp, etc. The town of Shoranpur is also linked by state
highway no 23 to other parts of Kerala.
