Podanur is town in Coimbatore district of
Tamil Nadu state. It is located near Coimbatore city and is a part of its
suburban area. Podanur is served with a railway junction which belongs to
Palakkad Junction of Southern Railway Zone. Coimbatore Junction is nearby major
railhead to it. There are some places of religious significance in Podanur. Echhanari
Temple is located just 3 km away from Podanur town. Mahalakshmi Temple and
Theeneswarar Temple are other places of worship located in and around the town.
Podanur Junction lies just about 10 km away from the heart of
Coimbatore city. Coimbatore is major city of Tamil Nadu and is known for
housing several places of interest worth visiting. Pollachi, Palakkad,
Malampuzha and Tirupur are some worth visiting places near Podanur. Other
places which can be accessed from Podanur include, Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary,
Subramanian Swami Thiruloil Temple, Kodaikanal, etc.
Ernakulum-Bangalore Exp, Chennai Central-Mangalore Exp,
Thiruchirapalli-Mangalore Exp, Mangalore-Pondicherry Exp, Nagore-Erankulum Exp
and many other trains pass through Podanur Railway Junction. Coimbatore airport
serves to be the closest airbase to Podanur Junction.
