Naihati is a
town situated on the Eastern side of the River Hoogly in the district of North 24
Paraganas of West Bengal. It is the
birthplace of the great Bengal poet Bankim Chandra. The town used to be a major
center for jute mills and now sericulture has been a major trade. Naihati railway station comes under the
jurisdiction of Eastern Railways of
India. Station Code is NH.
Naihati station is situated on the
Sealdah-Ranaghat railway line. The station is connected to Sealdah, Bandel,
Garifa, Kankinara and Howrah. Major cities near Naihati are Kolkata, Howrah,
Alipore, and Navadvipa. Major trains running through this station are the KOAA
Express connecting Muzaffarpur Jn in Bihar to Kolkata, SDAH BUI Express
connecting Sealdah with Ballia in UP, Gour Express, Hate Bazare Express,
Gangasagar Express, Sealdah-Ranaghat EMU and Naihati-Bandel Express. It takes
almost an hour to reach Sealdah station which is a major railway terminal in
Kolkata.
