Mughalsarai Junction is located in the Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. The town Mughalsarai is situated near Varanasi which is at about 10-15 km away. Mughalsarai is best known for its railway colonies situated by the side of GT Road. It was a major railway yard back in time and now almost 200 trains pass through this junction. The junction comes under the jurisdiction of East Central Railways of India. Station code is MGS.
Tourist attractions nearby this city are Varanasi, Sarnath, Jaunpur, Vindhyachal and Sasaram. Two main railway lines meet at this junction; they are Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Patna-Gaya-Howrah line and Delhi-Moradabad-Bareily-Lucknow-Varanasi-Gaya-Howrah line. Trains passing through this station connect Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab. It is a busy station. Daily trains starting from Kolkata, Howrah, Patna and New Delhi stop at this junction.
