Janghai is a small town located in Jaunpur
district of Uttar Pradesh state. The town lies near the border of Allahabad
state and serves to be a major railway junction. Janghai Railway Junction belongs to Lucknow division of Northern
Railway Zone of Indian Railways. It connects Phaphamau Jn in south, Jafarabad
Jn in north, Partapgarh Jn in west and Varanasi Jn in east.
Janghai is just about 50 km away from Jaunpur, the
headquarters town of Jaunpur district. Jaunpur
is a historical town set up by Firoz Shah Tughalq in memory of his cousin
Jauna. It is home to several historic mosques, Hi ndu religious sites and other
places of interest. Jama Masjid, Atala Masjid and Lal Darwaza Masjid are some
of prominent mosques of Jaunpur. The pilgrimage city of Allahabad is just about 60 km away from Janghai. Janghai has rail
and road connection to it. Allahabad is the place of confluence of three holy
rivers of India namely, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Allahabad Fort, Patalpuri
temple, Hanuman temple and Ashoka Pillar are major places of interest in
Allahabad. The city also serves as the
place for Kumbha Mela (a large Hindu fair).
