Dabhoi is a municipal town in Vadodara district of Gujarat state. It is a railway junction which belongs to Western Railway, Vadodara Jn. Dabhoi Railway Junction falls on Karjna-Chhota Udaipur rail route. It is just about 35 km south east of Vadodara which was formerly known as Baroda. Darbhavati, as the town of Dabhoi was originally known, is prominent Jain pilgrimage center in the state. Shri Darbhavati Teerth is just 2 km away from Dabhoi Jn. Dabhoi is home to six Jain temples. Shri Lodhan Parshwanath temple is the most prominent among them. It witnesses thousand of Jain devotees thronging there round the year.
The town of Dabhoi is famous for its Dabhoi Fort, one of the most important ancient forts of India. Built in the 13th century, Dabhoi Fort is known for its Hindu military architecture. The fort has four main gateways with Hira Bhagol gate being the most important. This beautifully carved gate is named after Hiradhar, the main architect of the fort. Vadodara Gate, Champaner Gate and Nandod Gate are other three gates of the fort. The architecture of the Dabhoi Fort is base on the Vastushastra. The fort once was the place of stay for many Jain scholars who contributed a lot in the enrichment of ancient Jain scriptures.
Several trains pass through Dabhoi Railway Junction connecting it to other cities of India. Dabhoi town is also connected by several state highways to other parts of Gujarat state. Vadodara Airport (35Km) serves to be the closest airbase to the town.
