Barauni Located on the bank of holy River Ganga, Barauni is a town in Begusarai district of the state of Bihar. This erstwhile industrial hub of Bihar is a railway junction which comes under Sonpur division of East Central Railways.  Begusarai which serves as the headquarters of Begusarai district is just about 17 km away from Barauni town, city of Patna, the capital place of Bihar state is about 120 km away from the town. 
Barauni Jn in Begusarai is a major base from where several places of interest in the district can easily be accessed. The town Barauni itself is famous for its bridge built over the river Ganga. The bridge serves to be a main attraction of Barauni. It is known as Rajendra Setu popularly called as Mokama Bridge. It is rail cum Road Bridge and connects north Bihar to south Bihar. Mokama Jn and Barauni Jn are connected by this Mokama Bridge which was inaugurated by Rajendra Prasad, the first president of independent India. Barauni is also famous for its industrial complex which holds much potential for Barauni to become a major industrial hub in Bihar. Wildlife sanctuary, Kabar Jheel, bird’s sanctuary and Naula Garh are some important places of interest which can easily be explored from Barauni Jn.  
Barauni is major railway junction of East Central Railways. It is well connected to all metro cities- Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai. It also serves to be a gateway to northeast state of India. Barauni Jn connects the north eastern parts of India to the rest of the country. Barauni has three main railway stations namely Barauni Junction, Barauni Flag and New Barauni. National Highway no-28 (NH-28) runs through the town connecting it to other parts of the country. Patna Airport (120 km) is nearby major airbase to Barauni.
