Tourist places in Palghar

Palghar is a town in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is located in Thane district of the state. It is growing industrial city and has all the facilities like Hospitals, shopping centers, restaurants, cinema theaters, educational institutions etc.  Farming and working in factories are main employments of the people. It is located near the border of Gujarat and is close to Tarapur, the place of India’s first nuclear plant. Palghar has still maintained its lush greenery with many trees of Coconut, Palm and cultivation of paddy. Palghar is a main base to other tourist spots nearby and houses many hotels to accommodate the tourists.

There are many places of attraction in and around it.

Kelva dam  :

Kelva dam is known for its beautiful surroundings. The dam was built many years ago and is the main source of water for the irrigation in the region for the grass farming.  It is a nice place to spend evenings and has a beautiful garden located near it. The place is much visited by the tourists.


Shirgaon Fort :

You can also visit Shirgaon Fort which is another place of interest located at Shirgaon beach near Palghar.





Kelva Beach :

Kelva Beach is the most preferred picnic spot in Thane district. It has the longest stretch of coastline in the district. This beach of Arabian Sea is beautiful one and mesmerizes the onlookers. The beach is best spot for weekend picnic and is visited by many others from nearby towns and cities like Mumbai, Thane etc.


Mahim Beach :

Take some time out to visit another beautiful beach of Mahim. The beach is located at Mahim Island near Palghar. Many trees lined up along the shore of the Arabian Sea add to the beauty of the beach. The beach also offers visitors fascinating views of sunset.

'Chhatratpati Shivaji International Airport' of Mumbai serves as the nearest Airbase to Palghar. The airport is just 120 km from it and is well linked by many domestic and international flights to other major cities of India and other countries.

Located in the central part of India the city of Bhopal is a state capital of Madhya Pradesh. The city is known as a City of Lakes as many natural and artificial lakes are found there. Tourist places in Amboli,Maharashtra


Situated at Sahyadri Hills, Amboli is one of the most popular hill stations of the state of Maharashtra. The hill station is known for many fascinating waterfalls, beautiful natural sights and fresh air. The native language of the region is Marathi and Hindi is also widely spoken in the region. Amboli is situated at the altitude of 690 m and has pleasant weather throughout year. Its temperature ranges from 22 to 40c in summer and from 12 to 33c in winter. The best time to visit Amboli is from October to March.

Madhavgarh Fort : 

is a historical important place of Amboli. It was four times bigger than the famous Shaniwarwada of Pune, Maharashtra. Though the fort is now in its ruins state, it offers tourist beautiful views of nearby forest including wonderful view of Konkan and Arabian Sea.

Shiva temple : 

is religious important place of Amboli. The temple is old one and it is believed that the person who built this temple was the manifestation of Lord Shiva. Tourist places Udvada, Gujarat

Udvada is famous holy town for Parsis in India. It is situated between Daman and Valsad in the state of Gujarat. The town of Udvada is renowned for its Atash Behram, the ritual fire of the Zoroastrians. Zoroastrians in India is called as Parsis. The Udvada Atasha Behram is the most revered Zoroastrian fire temple in India. It is oldest continuously burning fire-temple in the world. Atash Behram in Udvada is one of the nine Atash Behram worldwide eight of which are located only in India (especially in western India) and remaining one is in Yazd, Iran.

Udvada is a seaside village and is mostly inhabited by Parsis. It is distant from other cities of Gujarat with many old style Parsis buildings found there. Pleasant breeze, lush green surrounding and cool and calm ambience in Udvada attracts many tourists along with Parsi pilgrims. Here in Udvada you will find many Faredome cottages. These are old Parsi buildings which have stood the time and are still intact. These monumental Parsi structures attract many historians and archeologists. Efforts are being made to protect Faredome Cottages and get the status of world heritage site for them.

Udvada seashore has now been turned into a beautiful beach. The beach has muddy brown sand and rocky terrain. Here you can get the glimpses of lives, cultures and customs of fishermen community of Udvada.

Tourist places in Lonavala, Maharashtra


Lonavala is a city and hill station in Indian state of Maharashtra. Lonavala is situated in the district of Pune and is 64 km away from it.  It is elevated at the height of 625m and is popular tourist spot in entire Maharashtra. Marathi is widely spoken language in the region while Hindi is also spoken by some. It has pleasant climate throughout the year and can be visited any time of the year.

Valvan dam is another place to visit near Lonavala. It is just 2km away from the town. The dam has at its foot a beautiful garden.

Bhilai is a city situated in Durg district of Chhattisgarh state, India. It is located at 25km west of state capital of Raipur. Bhilai is famous for Bhilai Steel Plant. It is the largest steel plant in India and known for being the only manufacturer of rails for Indian Railway. The city is known for many festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. Weather of Bhilai is pleasant during the winter and hot and dry during the summer.

Maitri Bagh : It is a zoo and park established by Bhilai Steel Plant. There are two huge man-made water lakes near the Bagh. Bhilai Water Works is situated right across the Maitri Bagh. It is a facility which is used to provide clean water to Bhilai townships. Maitri Bagh, Garden of Friendship as it literally means, was established as a symbol of India – USSR friendship.
Civic Centre : It is another place of interest in Bhilai. It was earlier started as shopping center consisting of two rows of shops and stores arranged in L shape. Initially it had TATA textile on one side and Bata Shoes on other.  The Civic center was major center for lots of social activities, entertainment and shopping for a long time. Then a lot of changes happened after that in Civic center and nearby.  There is a doomed shaped super market Near the Civic center and it is now used as art exhibition.
Open Air theater :
In the east of Civic Centre there is an open space with a stage and it is known as ‘’Open –Air-Theatre and used for various cultural activities including musical night shows.
