       Chalisgaon is a city in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra state. It is a major railway junction situated on Mumbai–Bhusawal rail route. Chalisgaon Railway Junction belongs to Bhusawal Division of Central Railways. It has rail connections to Dhule (60 km), Jalgaon (110 km), Bhusawal (140 km), Manmad (70 km), etc.  Chalisgaon Jn is just about 70 km away from Manmad Jn which falls on Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nanded rail route. Manmad Jn has also rail connection to Kopargaon, Ahmadnagar, Pune, etc. The famous pilgrimage town of Shirdi lies just about 12 km away from Kopargaon. 
        Chalisgaon has several tourist attractions located around it. Gautala Wildlife Sanctuary famous for its rich wildlife and lush green vegetations can easily be explored from Chalisgaon. Patanadevi, a Hemadpanthi temple surrounded by dense vegetations of the sanctuary, is place to visit near Chalisgaon. Another place of attraction near Chalisgaon is Pittalkhora Caves (Buddhist caves) which are now in ruined condition but are frequented by number of tourists. The world famous caves of Ajanta and Ellora which are also recognized   as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO are easily accessible from Chalisgaon. They are about 110 km and 65 km away from Chalisgaon, respectively.
         Chalisgaon is well connected by rail and road to other parts of Maharashtra. Chalisgaon railway station is served with many trains connecting it to Dhule, Manmad, Mumbai, Jalgaon, Bhusawal and many other cities of India. Besides, a national highway no 211 (NH-211) connecting Solapur-Aurangabad-Dhule also runs through the city. Chikalthana Airport at Aurangabad (100 km) serves to be the nearest airbase to Chalisgaon.
