Manikpur Railway Junction,Uttar Pradesh


Manikpur is a town in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh state.  It is a railway junction which comes under Jhansi Jn division of North Central Railway Zone. The name of Manikaran town has been recently changed to Garhi Manikpur. It is an old town believed to have been set up in 1638. It is often called as the town of kings and saints. Several old structures are located in Manikpur and its adjoining area. The old fort of Manikpur lies just about 4 km away from the town. It is in dilapidated condition and is still a much frequented place in Manikpur. An old mosque, believed to be built by emperor Shahjahan, is located on the north side of the fort. Chihul Satan or Hall of Fame is another old structure worth watching in Manikpur.
There are several places of interest which can easily be explored from Manikpur. Kaushambi is religious significance place for Buddhists as it is one of those sacred places where Lord Buddha delivered his sermons. Kaushambi once housed Stupas, Monasteries and other religious structures. Some remains of those structures are found there. Kalinjar, Satna and Rewa are other nearby worth visiting places.
Mumbai CST- Patna Spl, Howrah- Mumbai Spl, Mumbai- Gorakhpur Spl, Patna-Indore Spl and many other trains pass through Manikpur Railway junction connecting it other parts of the country.
