Tourist Places in Pollachi

Pollachi is a Tahsil town in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated close to the Western Ghats and is just 40 km away from Coimbatore. Pollachi is famous for its market. The Jaggery market of Pollachi is the largest market in entire Asia. Its cattle market is also one of the biggest cattle market in southern India. Pollachi has pleasant climate throughout the year owing to its closeness the Western Ghats. Pollachi is also known for its vegetable produce like tomato and coconut. Tamil is widely spoken language in the region but the use of English is also done especially at tourist spots.
There are many places of tourist’s attraction in and around Pollachi. 
Anamalail wildlife sanctuary :
You can visit the Anamalail wildlife sanctuary near Pollachi. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 958 sq km and houses various species of bird and animals. Top Slip is another place of interest to see near the sanctuary.

Chinnakallar :
Chinnakallar is known for being the place of highest rainfall in state of Tamil Nadu. The place also has a fascinating waterfall located near it.




Parambikulum National Park :
Parambikulum national park is another place near Pollachi where you can spend some time watching varieties of wildlife.
Apart from these wildlife area and parks Pollachi also house many places of religious significance in and around it.



Pollachi Ayyappan Temple :
Pollachi Ayyappan Temple is one among them. It is built in 1970 and houses many deities along with the main deity of Ayyappan.






Subramanyar Kovil :
Subramanyar Kovil is another place of worship in Pollachi. It was constructed by Kong Cholas about 700 years back. The temple is rich in its architectural value. Built in 18th century, the temple of Alagunachi Amman is another place you can visit in Pollachi. 
ThiruMurthi Temple, Maasani Amman Thirukoli, Sulakkal Mariamman Thirukoli, Sri Velayudhaswami Thirukoli and Echanari Vinayagar Thirukoli are some of other religious places and temples to be seen around the town of Pollachi.

How to reach :
Pollachi is well connected by rail and road to other parts of the state and the country. Pollachi railway station is well linked to Coimbatore and other cities and towns of the state. Coimbatore also serves as the nearest railhead to Pollachi and is connected to other major cities of India. Many state run buses and other private vehicles like cars and luxury buses are also available from other cities and towns of the state and the country.
