Tourist places in Bhopal

Located in the central part of India the city of Bhopal is a state capital of Madhya Pradesh. The city is known as a City of Lakes as many natural and artificial lakes are found there. It is also one of the greenest cities of India. The city is divided into 6 major areas including Old city and New city and about 75 suburbs.  Govindpura, Bhopal’s industrial area, has over 1000 small and medium scale industries involved in producing many different items including some electrical goods and chemicals.  As a tourist place it is very vibrant and attracts many tourists from all over the country and rest parts of the world as well. The city offers its tourists many places of interest.

Upper LakeUpper Lake :

Asia’s largest artificial lake, ‘Upper Lake’, is one of the places of interest of the city. Lower Lake is yet another lake to be seen here. Other than these lakes city also offers its tourists Van Vihar National Park which is located at the south of Upper Lake.



Taj-ul-Masjid

Taj-ul-Masjid :

Bhopal houses one of the largest mosques in Asia named Taj-ul-Masjid. The city also has many places of interest including





Bharat Bhavan

Bharat Bhavan :

It is an unique national centre for performing visual arts designed by the renowned Goan architect Charles Correa. The center houses a museum of the arts , an art gallery, a workshop for fine arts, a repertory theatre, indoor and outdoor auditoria, rehearsal room, and libraries of Indian poetry, classical and folk music, which highlights and presents the works of different artists.


Manuabhan Ki TekriManuabhan Ki Tekri :

Other places of religious importance in the city of Bhopal include Manuabhan ki Tekri. It is situated seven k.m.from Bhopal on Gwalior road. It is a Jain temple situated on hill cliff and offering scenic views from the hill and Kalika Mandir located at Kali Ghat near Lower Lake.



Other places to visit Manav Sanghralay, Museum of Natural History etc.

How to reach:  

Bhopal is well connected by rail, road and air to other parts of major cities and towns of Madhya Pradesh and the rest of the country as well.

By air: 

Raja Bhoj International Airport is located at the satellite suburbs of Bairagarh. There are many flights to Bhopal from other major cities of India to.

By rail:  

Bhopal is one of the best connected cities in India by rail. The city also has service of Metro rail.

By road: 

One can reach the city by buses run by state government. One can travel to the city by bus from major cities and towns of the rest of Madhya Pradesh.

Shopping: 

The city of Bhopal has many shopping avenues. Shopping experience is unique in the city. On both sides of the Shopping streets there are many old picturesque Havelis which gives a different kind of experience.
  
Bhopal celebrates all festivals of different religions. On the occasion of Dussehera some wonderful Ram Lilas and traditional forms of episode from Ramayana is enacted here.
