Thiruthuraipoondi is a town in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu state. It is a served with a railway junction which comes under Tiruchirapalli Junction division of Southern Railway Zone. Thiruthuraipoondi (also known Tiruturaipdi) Railway Junction is perched on Thiruvarur-Karaikudi rail route. TTP is the station code of Thiruthuraipoondi Junction which is served with several trains connecting it to many other parts of India.
The town of Thiruthuraipoondi is home to famous Piravimarundeeswarar temple. The temple is about 200 years old and is major place of worship in the region. Anchaneyar is another important temple located in the center of the town. There are several other religious sites located around the town. Thiruthuraipoondi also hosts several places of tourist attraction around it. Muthupettai Lagoon is a major place of tourist attraction. It is located just about 25 km away from the town and is famous for boating. Udaymarthandapuram Bird Sanctuary is another worth visiting place near Thiruthuraipoondi. Nagapattinam, Vailankanni and Nagore are other major places which one can easily access from Thiruthuraipoondi Junction.
