Mariani is a small town located in Jorhat
district of Assam state. Famous for Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, Mariani is just
about 17 km away from Jorhat city. This small town is beautifully perched
amidst vast tea plantation area. Mariani is served with railway junction and
therefore it is connected by rail to many other parts India. Mariani is perched
near the border of Nagaland and is known for its cosmopolitan culture as it is
the place where several communities with different language have been living
together in harmony.
Mariani is just 17 km away from Jorhat and has rail and road
connections to it. Rich in history and culture, Jorhat is a major tourist destination in Assam. It is home to a
number of monasteries and temples. Its surrounding region is dotted with tea
plantation and gardens. Rich in flora and fauna, Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is another major tourist attraction one

popular place among wildlife freak tourists. Majuli is beautiful island located in Brahmaputra River in state of
Assam. Boats are available from Jorhat to Majuli. This island is known for its
lush green scenery and pristine beauty. Sibsagar and Mokokchung are other
places of attraction which can be accessed from Mariani Jn.
Dibrugarh (Assam)-Chandigarh Spl, Kamakhya-Dibrugarh Spl,
Brahmaputra Mail (Delhi-Dibrugarh) and many other trains pass through Mariani Railway Junction. Mariani is
also connected by road to other parts of Assam, while the nearest airbase to
the town is Jorhat airport which is linked by several flights to other major
cities of India.
