Lumding Railway Junction


         Lumding is a small town located in Nagaon district of Assam state. It is major railway junction situated on Guwahati-Dimapur rail line. Lumding Railway Junction is one of the divisional headquarters of North East Frontier Railway Zone.  It is served with both broad gauge and meter gauge line. Guwahati-Lumding-Dibrugarh rail line is broad gauge, while Lumding-Badarpur-Silchar is served with meter gauge rail line.     
         Diphu is beautiful hill station of Assam and is connected to Lumding to by rail and road. It is dotted with lush green sceneries and is a major tourist destination in the state. Diphu serves to be a perfect picnic spot which offers several scenic locations to the visitors. The famous Kaziranga National Park can easily be explored from there. Horse riding, hang gliding, golfing and trekking are popular activities of the tourists visiting Diphu. Lumding Jn lies just about 40 km away from Diphu. Nagaon, Golaghat and Kohima are other places of interest which could be reached from Lumding Jn.
        Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Spl, Kamakhya-Dibrugarh Spl, Brahmaputra Mail (Dibrugarh-Delhi), Dibrugarh-Amritsar Exp and many other trains pass through Lumding Railway junction connecting it to many other parts of the country. Lumding is also situated on national highway no 54 (NH-54). Dimapur Airport (85km) serves to be the closest airbase to Lumding.
