Jetalsar Railway Junction


         Jetalsar is a prominent railway junction located in Rajkot district of Gujarat state. Jetalsar Jn falls on Veraval-Rajkot rail line and is managed by Bhavnagar division of Western Railway Zone.  Jetalsar Railway Junction connects Porbandar on west direction, Rajkot Junction on north direction, Junagarh Jn and Veraval on south direction, and Khijadiya Jn and Dhola Jn on east direction.  Jetpur and Navagarh are nearby railway stations to Jetalsar Jn, while Rajkot serves to be the nearest major railhead to it.
          Jetalsar Jn is just about 25 km north east of Junagarh, the eighth largest city of Gujarat state. Situated at the feet of Girnar hills, Junagarh serves to be a major tourist destination in the state. Junagarh, the old fort as it literally means, is a historic place hosting several places of interest, scenic spots and religious significant sites. Girnar Mountain is major place of interest located just 6 km away from the heart of Junagarh district. Ashok Shilalekh is a historic place located just 2 km away from the foot of Girnar Mountain near Junagarh. It is the place where edict of emperor Ashoka inscribed on a large rock is located. The rock edict dates back to the 2nd century BC. Uperkot, the Wild Museum, Motibagh, Mujkund Caves and Damodar Kund and Damodar Temple are other worth visiting places located in and around the city of Junagarh. Jetalsar Jn has rail and road connection to Junagarh. Sasan Gir and Gondal are other places of interest which are easily accessible from Jetalsar Jn.
       Jetalsar Railway Junction is just about 3 km away from Jetalsar town. Somnath-Jabalpur Exp, Saurasthra Mail (Mumbai Central-Veraval), Somnath Exp (Ahmedabad-Veraval) and Porbandar-Rajkot Exp are some of the trains which pass through Jetalsar Jn connecting it to other parts of the country. Besides the town of Jetalsar is perched on national highway no 151 (NH-151).
