Jamalpur Railway Junction


       Jamalpur is a town in Munger district of Bihar state, India. It is a major railway junction which belongs to Eastern Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Jamalpur Railway Junction falls on Gaya-Sahibganj rail route. Jamalpur is home to Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, abbreviated as IRIMEE. It is the centralized institute of Indian Railway imparting training to supervisors and officers of mechanical department of Indian Railway.
      Jamalpur is home to several places of interest. There is a small hill named Kali Pahadi near Jamalpur. Kali Pahadi serves to be a major picnic spot for the locals and the visitors. It hosts a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Jamalpur also houses a golf course which is mainly used by railway and army officers.  Munger which serves to be the headquarters of Munger district is just about 10 km away from Jamalpur. Munger Fort, Sita Kund, Bhimabandh Wildlife Sanctuary and Kastaharni Ghat are some of major attraction of Munger. Samastipur, Bhagalpur and Nalnda are other places of interest which are easily accessible from Jamalpur Jn. 
      There are several trains which pass through Jamalpur Railway Junction. Bhagalpur- Anand Vihar Exp, Bhagalpur-New Delhi Exp, Anga Exp (connecting Bhagalpur-Yashvantpur (Karnataka) Exp, are some of the trains which run through Jamalpur Jn. Nearby major airport to Jamalpur is Patna Airport.
