Fakiragram is a railway junction situated in Kokrajhar district of Assam
state. Fakiragram Railway Junction belongs to North Frontier Railway,
Alipurduar Jn and falls on Alipurduar-Bongaigaon rail route. Saptagram and
Kokrajhar are nearby railway stations to Fakiragram Jn. It is about 250 km west
of Guwahati, the capital city of Assam state. There are several places of
interest which can be easily accessible from Fakiragram Jn.
Bongaigaon
is just about 50 km away from Fakiragram Jn. It is a major city of Assam state
and is known for its scenic surroundings. Though it is major industrial city of
the state, it has preserved its rich natural surroundings. Enriched with lush
green surroundings, hills, scenic landscapes, dense vegetation, Bongaigaon
attracts number of tourists round the year. It also hosts the temple of
Bageshwari, one of the most visited places of worship in Assam. Town Park is
another attraction of Bongaigaon. Numerous species of birds can be spotted
there. Other places which can be easily accessed from Fakiragram Jn include
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Goalpara, Barpeta, etc.
There are
several trains which pass through Fakiragram Railway Junction and connect the
town to Delhi, Patna, Kolkata, Allahabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, Varanasi, Vijayawada
and many other cities of India. Fakiragram
is also linked by road to other parts of Assam. Guwahati Airport serves to be
the nearest airbase to the town.
