Degana is a small town in
Nagaur district of Indian state of Rajasthan. It is a railway junction which falls
on Jodhpur-Makrana rail route. Degana Railway
Junction belongs to Northern Western Railway, Jodhpur Jn. It has rail
connections to some significant cities of Rajasthan like Jodhpur, Bikaner,
Jaipur, etc. Degana railway station is served with many trains connecting it to
other parts of Rajasthan and rest of the country. The town is about 85km away
from Nagaur, the headquarters of Nagaur district.
Degana is
home to numerous places of worships. Besides, there are several places of
interest located around Degana. Karni Mata temple, Chamunda Mata temple,
Shitala Mata Temple and Devnarayan Temple are some of prominent temples of
Degana. The town also hosts an annual cattle fair attended by thousands of
people from far and wide. Nagaur, famous for its several historic structures
and Nagaur Fair, is just about 85
away from Degana and is easily accessible by road from the town. The famous
pilgrimage city of Ajmer is just
about 75 km away from Degana. It is famous for the shrine of Khwaja Moinudeen
Chishti, a great Sufi saint. It is frequented by thousand of devotees belonging
to all religions.
Many trains pass through Degana Railway Junction.
Besides, the town is well connected by several state highways to other parts of
Rajasthan. Jodhpur Airport serves as the closest airbase to Degana.
