Bharuch Railway Junction


          Bharuch is a prominent port city of Indian state of Gujarat. It is perched near the mouth of holy river Narmada and is the headquarters of Bharuch district. Also known as Broach, Bharuch is one of the oldest cities of Gujarat state. Situated between Surat and Vadodara, Bharuch is known for several places of religious and tourist significance. Bharuch is railway junction which belongs to Vadodara division of Western Railways. Bharuch Railway Junction falls on Mumbai-Delhi-Ahmedabad rail line and is served with many trains connecting it to Surat, Mumbai, Delhi, Vadodara and many other parts of the country. 
          Bharuch is dotted with a number of temples with each of them holding its own religious significance.  Swaminarayan temple perched in Dandiya Bazaar area of the city is about 175 years old. The temple is known for its beautiful paintings on its walls. Bhrigu Rishi Temple in Bharuch is a sacred temple in the state of Gujarat.Perched on the east bank of holy river Narmada, Bhrigu Rishi Temple holds great religious significance for the people of Bharuch. The temple is dedicated to a great saint named Maharishi Bhrigu.
          Bharuch also hosts nine Swayambhu Shivalingas which are located in different parts of the city. Those nine Swayambhu Shivlingas are popularly called as Nav Nathas. Those Shivalingas are in existences since the time immemorial. Dashwashmedh Ghat, Narmada Mata Temple and Khodiya Mata temple are some of many other prominent places of worship in Bharuch. Along with above mentioned places, the city of Bharuch also hosts several other places of interest like a 1000 years old fort built by Siddhraj Jaisingh, the Golden Bridge built by British in 1881 and Gurudwara Chader Saheb.  There are many places of religious significance which are situated around the city of Bharuch. Ankleshwar, Shuklatirth, Osara, Kukarwada and Kabirvad are some them. 
         Bharuch is well connected by rail and road to other parts the country. It lies between Surat and Vadodara and is about 75 and 80 km away from them respectively. National Highway no-8 (NH-8) runs through the city. Nearest major airport to Bharuch is Vadodara airport which is served with regular flights connecting it to all major cities of India.
