Arsikere is a town in Hassan district of Karnataka state. It is a major railway junction of south western railway. Several tourist destinations located around Arsikere make the town a major tourist base in the region. Halebidu, Belur and Mavuthanahali are some of the tourist places which can be explored from Arsikere.
Arsikere Railway Station falls on Bangalore- Miraj Railway line. Adihali and Honnavalli are other nearby railway stations, while Mysore is major railway station near to Arsikere. Halebidu situated just 30 km away from Arsikere is home to several prominent temples. Shantaleshwara Temple, Hoysaleshwara temple, Kedareshwara temple and Bassadi Halli are some of the important places of worship in Halebidu.
Belur situated about 55 km away from Arsikere is another major pilgrimage destination housing several prominent temples. Sravanabelagola perched between two hills at an altitude of about 300 ft is major pilgrimage center for Jain people. Chikamagalur, Hasan and Shivgiri are other places of religious and tourist significance around Arsikere. The town of Arsikere is known for its wide scale production of coconut. It is also famous for its naturally formed elephant stone which is situated in the heart of the town.
Arsikere Railway Station is a part of Mysore division. It is major railway junction between Bangalore and Hubli. Trains to Bangalore, Hassan, Hubli, Mangalore etc are available from Arsikere Railway Junction. National Highway (NH-73) and state highways further connect the town of Arsikere to other parts of state and the country.
