Anuppur is a town and the headquarters of
Anuppur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has major railway junction
which is located on Katni- Bilaspur rail
line. Anuppur Junction Railway Station comes
under Shadol division of South East
Central Railway of India. There are some
places worth visiting situated nearby. Anuppur serves to be a perfect place
from where one can easily explore them.
Amarkantak is a famous pilgrimage destination in
the state. It is located in Anuppur
district and is known for several temples of great religious significance. It
is also abundant with rich flora and fauna. Amarkantak offers several natural
attractions to the tourists. Mai ki Bagiya, Kapildhara waterfall and Sonemuda
are some of them.
The town of Amarkantak is home to many
places of worship which attract thousands of devotees throughout the year. Narmadeshwar Temple situated at the
originating place of Narmada River in Amarkantak.
There are other 20 small temples located in the premises of the main temple. A
Kund (water tank) located at the temple is considered to be a divine one and
therefore a number of devotees are seen taking the holy bath in the water tank.
One can also visit an Archeological site situated near the temple. Just one km
away from the temple site lies a beautiful garden worth a visit.
Anuppur Railway
Station is connected by several trains to many parts of India. Mauhari and Amlai are the nearby railway stations to Anuppur JN. Bilaspur JN is the nearest major
railhead to Anuppur. Anuppur is also well connected by road to major highways
like National Highway no 78 (via Rampur road) and State Highway 9A which
further link the town to many other parts of state and the country.
