Daund railway Junction,Maharashtra




Daund is a town in Pune district of Maharashtra state. It is a major railway junction which comes under Central Railway, Solapur Jn. Daund Railway Junction is situated on Solapur-Pune rail route and is connected by several trains to other parts of the state and the country. The town is just about 85 km away from the city of Pune. Siddhatek, a famous pilgrimage site of Maharashtra, lies just about 20 km away from the town. 

Siddhatek is known for its temple of Lord Ganesha, known as the Siddhivinayak Temple. The temple serves to be one of Ashtvinyakas (eight most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha) and hence it witnesses thousands of devotees thronging there from all over Maharashtra and other parts of the country as well. The idol of Lord Ganesh in the temple is right-husked idol. National highway no 67 connect Daund town to Siddhatek.

Daund Railway Junction is served many trains connecting it to Pune, Ahmadnagar, Solapur, Mumbai and many other cities and town of India. State highway no 67 and other highways also connect the town to other parts of Maharashtra. Pune Airport which is just about 85 km away from Daund serves to be the nearest airbase to it.
