Rajkot is the third largest city of
Indian state of Gujarat. It once served as the capital place of erstwhile
Saurashtra state from 1948 to 1956. Rajkot boasts of having rich history and
culture. It has also played an important role in Indian freedom movement. A
number tourist places located in and around Rajkot make the city a prominent tourist destination in Gujarat.
Watson Museum:

Park Garden is a major attraction of Rajkot. The museum is named after Colonel
John Watson of British India. The museum serves to be a perfect introduction to
cultural heritage of Saurashtra region of Gujarat state. It has a fine collection of
artifacts of Mohenjodaro and beautiful carvings belonging to the 13th
century. A huge Marble statue of Queen Victoria is another attraction of the
museum. Besides, the museum displays number handicrafts, pottery, beautiful
portraits of royal member of erstwhile princely state of Saurashtra and other
European dignitaries.
Jagat Mandir :
Famous for its beautiful
architectures, Jagat Mandir in Rajkot is a prominent religious place. The temple
is made of red stone and is dedicated to Sri Ramkrishna Paramhans. Visited by
both devotees and tourists, Jagat Mandir serves to be a much frequented place
in Rajkot, located about 250 km south-west of Gandhinagar which serves to be capital places of Gujarat.
Kaba Gandhi’s Gate is another place
of interest in Rajkot. It was Gandhiji’s ancestral home. It now houses Gandhi
Smriti- a memorial museum containing Mahatma Gandhi’s photos and other personal
effects.
Aji Dam :
Popular tourist attraction in
Rajkot.The Aji Dam garden beside the Aji Dam.It is famous for amusement park, zoos,
and beautiful flowers.
The city of Rajkot is home to many
other places of interest. Mahatma Gandhi High School, Lal Pari Lake and Rotary
Dolls Museum are some of the many other attractions one can visit in and around
the city of Rajkot.
