Tourist Places in Shimla


Shimla Tourist attractions:   


Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, is much sought after tourist destination of India. Perched in the north western part of Himalayan Mountains, Shimla lures the entire globe with its exquisite nature dotted with lush green hills, scenic landscape, dense forests filled with oak and pine trees etc. Pleasant and cool climate, picturesque sights of snow capped Himalayan Mountains, lush green valleys and beautiful lakes make Shimla a major tourist spot in India. The hill station of Shimla with an average altitude of 2205 m once served as the summer capital of British India. 

The Ridge


 Located in the center of Shimla, the Ridge is an open space running alongside Shimla Mall. It is the place of summer festival in Shimla which attracts thousands of tourists from far and wide. A New Year celebration is also held at the place in grand style. To the east of the Ridge is a large water reservoir which serves to be the main source of water to the entire town of Shimla. 


Shimla Mall Road:



 It is the shopping hub and ultimate hangout spot in the town of Shimla. Filled with several restaurants, cafes, government offices and cinema theaters, Shimla Mall Road is one of most frequented places in Shimla. A huge cinema theater set during by British now conducts several cultural programs and activities.



Christ Church:

 Built in the year1857, Christ Church serves to be the second oldest church of north India. It is a prime place of worship in Shimla and is situated on Ridge road. It is beautifully built in new Gothic architectural style. A clock was added to the tower of the church in 1860.

Himachal State Museum



Also known as Shimla state Museum, Himachal State Museum is home to a large scale collection of sculptures and paintings. Set up in the year 1974, the museum displays the fine collection of miniature paintings, wood carvings, jewelry, traditional cloths, etc. The museum offers the insight of culture and tradition of Himachal Pradesh. Tara Devi temple, summer hill, Kali and Bari temple are some of the many other places of interest situated in and around Shimla.

Best Time to Visit Shimla

 Summer Best time to visit Shimla is September to February and March to June.

March to June:

Summer usually starts around March and ends in June. Hence this is said to be a peak time and so that it is also recommend to make advance booking of your hotel and taxi or cab. Temperature ranges between 15°C to 30°C..

July to September:

Summer These are the rainiest months and Shimla receives the heaviest rainfall and though there is high probability of landslides during this time. Hence these months are not recommend for tourist to visit. 

October to February:

These are the coolest months as Shimla experiences cold winters seasons during this months. This season is also referred as the best time to visit Shimla. The temperature may vary between 0°C to 15°C.    
 

How to reach

By Air:-  
Jubbarhatti airport is nearest airport to Shimla which is around 22 km away from city.
       
By Train
Kalka a small railway station is nearest railway station from Shimla and it is just 1 km away from it.

By Road
The city is well connected to nearly all major cities by Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses and private vehicle.

  1. i was visit shimla two time.Best time to visit May–July and September–November .Some interesting spots around the city are Naldhera, Tattapani, Wildflower Hall, Mashobra, Craignano, Kufri and Chail.
