Kozhikode is the third largest city in Kerala state in India Malayalam language is the main language used in the city. A good progress has been made in Malayalam literature. The olden days center of trade Kozhikode was well known for its ‘Uru Making’ or Shipbuilding Art, now the local craftsman makes miniature models of boat as a custom.
