Kaziranga National Park, Assam

 



 Located in the heart of Aasam and a World Heritage site is popular for the two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses as well as Elephants, tigers,  panthers and various types of bird species. Kaziranga National park,

This park It is a favourite destination for nature and wildlife fanatics. 

There are many beliefs about the origin of the place name, it was renamed the "Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary" in 1950 by P. D. Stracey, the forest conservationist. Kaziranga park has been declared as a world heritage site in 1985 by UNESCO for its unique natural environment. The park is circumscribed by the Brahmaputra river and the park extends over a geographical area of 430 sq km.  

The park is divided into the four tourism ranges or zones, Western Range (Bagori), Central Range (Kohora), Burapahar Range, Eastern Range(Agaratoli)  

Elephant safaris and Jeep safari is the only way to explore and unfold the vigor and splendor of Kaziranga. Hiking is not allowed in the area to avoid unexpected encounter with large, dangerous wild animals.

Aside from the home to many spices, Kaziranga also has a varied ecosystem and mountains. Taking a wildlife safari will give ample opportunity to take glimpse of some of big animals.


Best time to visit :

The park is crowded between November to April of every year. Now it has reopened for tourist from 21st Oct. after COVID-19 lockdown.

 

Getting to Kaziranga :

By Air : 

Jorhat Airport is nearest airports which is 105 kms away. It is connected to Kolkata by good number of daily flights. At the airport you can hire a cab prior to your arrival to visit Kaziranga national park or can reach to bus stand which is approx. 23 km from there. 

By Railway : 

Furkating is the nearest railway station to Kaziranga park. It is well connected to major town such as Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi. 

 By Road: 

NH37 will lead you to Kaziranga park. It has good connectivity with Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Nagaon, Golaghat, Dimapur, Tinisukia and Sivasagar. Either you can take a taxi from these cities or local transport services to reach park.

How to reach Shillong:



By Air:  Airport in Umroi is nearest airport to Shillong. It's about 25 km from Shillong. You can take a bus or taxi from Umroi to Shillong prior to your pick up or at arrival.


By Rail:  Guwahati railway station is nearest airport to Shillong. Buses and rental cabs are available from Guwahati railway station to Shillong.

World's Largest Camel Fair at Pushkar Mela, Rajasthan

  'Pushkar', a small town located about 20 km from Ajmer in Rajasthan, is one of the famous pilgrimage destination in India. The place is primary famous for two things, first is temple of 'Lord Brahma' and second is 'Camel fair'.

Lord Brahma's Only Temple in The World

 Contrary to the legends and various version of  “Why there is no Temple of Lord Brahma”, the temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan remains the most famous “Brahma” temple in the world. This temple is built with marble and  is decorated with silver coins and there is a silver turtle on the floor of the temple. 

 It is a Hindu Temple located near Pushkar lake having 52 Ghats in Rajasthan (India). On Kartik Poornima, a festival dedicated to Lord Brahma is held when large number of pilgrims visit the temple, after bathing in the sacred lake.

The place becomes tourist attraction for one more famous reason i.e “Pushkar Camel Fair- the largest Camel trade fair in the world” during this time. How to reach Pushkar- 


By Train: 

If you are planning to travel by train then to reach here Ajmer is the neartes railway station to Pushkar. From there a local connectivity is Ajmer-Pushkar Passenger which  departs Ajmer between  9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and arrives in Pushkar at 10.30 a.m. 

By Road:

From Ajmer you may also plan for a road journey which is 30 minutes drive. You can rent a chauffeur driven cab from around 300+ Indian cities to plan a road trip to Pushkar. 

By Air:

The air connectivity provided to “Pushkar” is through 2 places, one is Kishangarh which is 40 km from Ajmer and the second is Jaipur 146.5 km i.e around 3 hours journey.

Dussehra is one of the biggest festival in India and celebrated with great pomp throughout the country, and Mysore's Dussehra is quite special in itself as it has rich history of more than 400 years. The celebration of Mysore Dussehra is believed to have been started in 1610 during the Vijayanagara empire and has played major role in the history.

 During the festival of Navratri, Mysore palace is decorated with about one lakh lamps and remain opened to the common people. If you want to see the royal Dussehra and the glamour of palace closely, then be a part of this festival. The popular part of the festival procession is the Jumbo Savari which is held every year on the day of Vijayadashmi. On the day The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari first worshiped by the Royal couple of Mysore and then a procession is taken out of it. Jumbo savari starts from Mysore palace and ends at Banimandap. The procession is accompanied by music bands, dance groups, armored forces, elephants, horses and camels. The main attraction of this procession on the this day is the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari which is placed on the 750 kg golden howdah placed on a decorated elephant. The idol worshiped by the royal family and is a principal deity of Mysore.

There are also various events like sports, food festivals, film festivals held at palace area.

How to reach Mysuru:

Mysore is easily accessible from all major cities by plane, road and train. If you do not get a direct flight, you can reach Bangalore and cab from Bangalore to Mysuru. The distance from Mysore to Bengaluru is about 145 km.

The festival also known as Gokulashtami and devotees from around the nation celebrates it with much pomp and grandeur. Wilson Dam :-

 Built with excellent engineering ,Wilson Dam is the largest earthen dam in India. It is built on Pravara river in 1910. Usually during monsoon the gates of the dam are opened to release the excess water and becomes the major tourist attraction in and around area.Adjacent to it a garden full of trees and natural green carpet add more to the beauty of Wilson Dam.


Umbrella Falls :-


 Another place which comes to full life in Monsoon is Umbrella falls situated in Bhandardara. Umbrella falls are situated behind the Wilson Dam. 


Necklace Falls: - 

Water flow forming a natural Necklace like structure when falling down the rocks is Necklace Falls.It is active only in Monsoon.

Ghatghar Dam:

Natural fall located at 1700 Ft above the sea level Kokan kada has amazing view from the top. This view is complementary to trekking at Harishchandra Fort which is easy at the initial stage but quite challenging once reaching the top.
Covered by dense forest the possibility of encountering wild animal like cheetah is high.
A perfect escape into nature's lap during short holiday is Kokan Kada.

The cliff at Kokan Kada looks like a hood of a cobra which a natural structure beyond proudly displaying the nature 's architect. Must loved place for over night camping as one can enjoy the cool breeze and natural view beyond description.


Randha Falls: -

With a river bed of approx 140m broad ,this is one among the largest falls in India.Situated near Ranad region this falls receive water from Wilson Dam . Maintained by administration this is Much developed tourist spot compare to other spots . Safe walkways are constructed at some places over the river bed to provide a better view of the water fall.Parking and local eating facility is also available.

How to reach Bhandaradara :

 Bhandardara is connected though all the major cities in Maharashtra.

Mumbai to Bhandardara -> It’s 3 hour 45 minutes (163.6 km) from Mumbai . Bhandardara does not have a train station, and the nearest station is Igatpuri, at a distance of 28 kms from Bhandardara.

Pune to Bhandardara- It’s 4 hour 45 minutes (172.6 km) from Pune . 



By Air – Nearest airports Mumbai , Pune , Nashik



By Train - Bhandardara does not have a railway station of its own so nearest railway is Igatpuri .Igatpuri is well connected to other major cities of the country via regular trains. Bhandardara is 35 kms away from Igatpuri.
