Gangtok, the city perched amidst lofty and clouds



 Gangtok, the popular tourists place, is the capital city of Indian state of Sikkim. Elevated at the height of 1437m, Gangtok is a popular hill town of the state. The town is blend of different culture as the People living there consist of Tibetans, Nepalese, and people of Sikkim. Surrounded by fascinating higher hills of Himalayan range, and gifted with pleasant weather, Gangtok has become the most important tourist place for the state. It has also become the learning and cultural center of Tibetan Buddhism with a number of monasteries and Buddhist educational institutions. A full day city tour sightseeing and activities give you a taste of the local.

Himalayan zoological park :

The zoo is nearly 6 km away from the town.  It's a good opportunity to see some of Himalayan animals that live at high elevations. Such as Black Beer, Snow Leopard, Barking Deer, Red Pandas, Civet Cat and Spotted Deer. The Zoo is open from 9am to 4pm daily (except Thursday).

Nathula:

It is another place of interest just 56 km away from Gangtok. It is situated at about 14200ft and adorned with numerous alpine trees. It is very beautiful and calm place to relax. Founded by the Lama Lhatsun Chempo, Pemayangtse Monastery is situated at the top of the hill and offers its tourist amazing natural sights of nearby hill of Himalayan range.

Khecheopalri Lake:

 Situated in the eastern part of the Sikkim Khecheopalri Lake is regarded as one of the most revered lake by Hindu and Buddhists as well. The lake is surrounded by the sense forest. Elevated at the height of 10300ft Menam Hill offers its tourists fascinating views of Kanchenjunga peaks.

  

Ganesh Tok :

Located on a small hillock on Nathula Gangto road, Ganesh Tok is a temple of Lord Ganesha, one of the Hindu Gods. Enchey Monastery, Do-drul Chorten is beautiful and large Stupa, a kind of religious structure, built in 1945. Enchey Monastery and Dodrupchen Monasteries are other places of interest in Gangtok.



A Ban Jhakri waterfall :

It is very beautiful sight with fascinating gardens around it. Many wonderful sculptures are found there. It is one of the most popular picnic spot in Gangtok.
Namgyal Institute of Tibetology :
Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is another place worth visit in Gangtok. It houses beautiful collection of artifacts and manuscripts related with Tibetan Buddhism.

How to get there:

Road connects Gangtok to other parts of the state and the country. Many state run buses to Gangtok and also there is other transport options as well like private buses and rent a chauffeur driven car, taxi are from other parts of the state and the country to reach Gangtok. Nearest airport to Gangtok is Siliguri Airport. The airport is connected by many domestic flights to major cities of the country. The nearest railway station for Gangtok is Jalpaiguri which is connected to many other cities of the state and the country.

Other details:

Many festivals are celebrated in Gangtok. Saga Dava is a Buddhist festival. On the occasion people take out the spectacular procession in the city with number of Monks carrying holly books in the center of the procession. Food and cultural festival is also organized by the Sikkim Tourism Department every year in the month of December. Flower festival is also celebrated every year in the month of March. Losar, Loosong, Dasain and Maghe Sankrati are other important festivals celebrated in Gangtok.

Tourist Places in Pushkar


Pushkar is a holy town in Indian state of Rajasthan. The town is in the Ajmer district of the state. Pushkar is popular for its Bramha temple and Pushkar Lake. It is one of the most prominent pilgrimage centers for the Hindus. Pushkar literally means the lotus flower which is said to be the seat of Lord Brahma. According to mythology he is supposed to be the creator of the world.  Pushkar houses a temple of Lord Brahman and it is special one considering the fact that there are very few temples of Lord Brahma in the world

Rangji Temple:
Apart from the temple of lord Brahma Pushkar also house other temples in and around it. Rangji Temple is one of them. Though the temple falls in northern part of India, it is built in typical south Indian style.

Temple of Panchkund Shiva :
 You can also visit the temple of Panchkund Shiva which is believed to be built by Pandavas. Chamunda temple, Pap Mochini temple and Savitri temple are some of the other temple to be seen in Pushkar. Most of these temples are situated near the Pushkar Lake.

Pushkar Lake :
 Pushkar Lake is beautiful and sacred place as well.  The lake is very old and is pilgrimage place for Hindus. It is surrounded by many Ghats which are used by devotees to take holy bath in the lake on the occasion of Kartiki Pournima (a particular full moon day).

Pushkar Fair :
Pushkar Fair is the most fascinating event in the Pushkar. The fair is organied in the month of the October- November and continues for five days. The fair is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world. Pushkar fair also contains the cattle festival. Thousands of camels from far and wide are brought and displayed in the fair. Trading of camels is also done there.
 You can also have an amazing experience of camel safaris in Pushkar. It is famous for camel safaris and many tourists are seen enjoying the camel ride.    

How to reach :
Ajmer serves as the nearest railhead to Pushkar. It is just 11 km away from Pushkar and well connected to other cities and towns of the state and the country. Many state run buses and other private vehicles are also available Ajmer and Jaipur and many other cities and towns of the state. Jaipur is the nearest airbase to Pushkar. It is about 130 km away from it and well linked by several flights to other major cities of the country.

Tourist Places in Meerut


 Meerut is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is also the headquarter of the district of the same name Meerut district. According to mythology the city was founded by Mayasura who was the father-in-law of Ravana. Meerut is a major hub of industries in western part of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It houses more than 500 small and medium scale industries. It is known for its handloom works and scissors industries.

Jain temple :

St. John’s Church :
 St. John’s Church in Meerut is the oldest church in north India. The church was built by East India Company in 1822. The church is large one and can accommodate 10,000 people at a time.
Augamath temple :
Augamath temple is another place of worship in Meerut. The temple is historical one as it is the same place where Indian freedom fighters planned their operation of 1857 war. The temple also houses a monument built in the memory of those who were killed in the war of 1857.
Jama Masjid :
 Jama Masjid in Meerut is the oldest Masjid in north India. The Masjid was built by Hasan Mahadi in 1019 AD.
Gandhi Bagh :
 Gandhi Bagh is located in the center of the city of Meerut. The garden is famous for its beautiful sights and calm ambience. Local people also call it Company Garden. The garden was built long before the independence and it houses fascinating musical fountains. It is nice place to spend evening.
Parikshitgarh :
 Parikshitgarh is yet another place of attraction near Meerut. It is related with the king Parikshit of Hastinapur. Tourist Places in Shivpuri



Shivpuri is a city in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is the main place of district of Shivpuri.  Earlier it was known as Sipri. It is situated in the Gwalior division of the state. At one time in the history of the region it was the summer capital of Scindias of Gwalior. Forest around Shivpuri was used as hunting ground by Mughal emperors. This dense forest is still there attracting many visitors. Shivpuri also houses Gwalior Forest Product Ltd which was founded 60 years ago. Tourist Places in Tuljapur



   Tuljapur is popular pilgrimage town in the state of Maharashtra, India. The town is situated in the district of Osmanabad of the state. It was earlier known as Chinchpur, the land of tamarind trees as it literally means. The major attraction of the town is it’s a temple of Tulja Bhavani. Tulja Bhavani is a form of goddess Durga and it was the main deity of Bhosale clan of Maratha Kingdom.  The great Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (who belonged to Bhosale clan) also revered the goddess Tulja Bhavani the most.  The holy town of Tuljapur has derived its name from the Tulja Bhavani temple.

How to reach :
Solapur city is just 45 km away from Tuljapur and serves as the nearest railhead to it. Solapur railway station is well connected to other cities and towns of the state and the country. Tourist Places in Kufri



  Kufri is a hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated in the district of Shimla and is just 13km away from Shimla which itself is a majestic hill station. Region of Shimla along with Kufri was earlier part of the Nepal Kingdom later on it was brought under the British rule. It is elevated at the height of 2510 m and has pleasant weather throughout the year. March to November is the best time to visit Kufri.

Tourist Places in Kolad


Gifted with beautiful natural surroundings, Kolad is a famous tourist destination in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is a small village in Raigad district of the state. The village is located at the backdrop of majestic Sahyadri hills. Kundalika River is the main attraction of villages as it offers adventurous activities. Tourist Places in Gopalpur,Orissa


Gopalpur is a town in the district of  Ganjam of the state of Orissa, India. Popularly known as Gopalpur-On-Sea, it is a beach town and a famous tourist destination in Orissa. The town is situated in the Bay of Bengal and has pleasant weather most of the time of the year. Its temperature ranges from 23 to 35c in summer and 16 to 27c in winter. Tourist Places in Hansi


Hansi is a city in the district of Hisar of Indian state of Haryana. Situated on the national highway no.10 it is just 26 km away from the Hisar. It houses many ancient buildings and monuments of historical importance. Agriculture and other allied business activities along with service sector are its main sources of income for the people of Hansi. It is learnt that the city of Hansi was larger and more important than the district of Hisar. Punjabi and Hindi are widely spoken languages in Hansi.   
Places to visit:
Hansi is popularly known for its tombs, forts, mosques and shrines and their architectural value. Hansi has five gates to welcome the visitors. These five historical gates are located in such a way that each one of them faces a different direction. Delhi Gate, Hisar Gate, the Barsi Gate, Gosain Gate and Umra Gate are names of those gates. Barsi Gate is known for its excellent sculpture and it attracts many tourists to visit the place.
Prithviraj Chauhan Fort :
It is another place of interest in Hansi. The fort is also known as Asigarh and was built to safeguard the city but it was later on conquered by the Mughal. This magnificent fort is stretched over 30 acres and are surrounded by other 80 smaller forts. Outside the fort there are statues of Bhagavan Mahavir and Bhagavan Gautam Buddha. Hansi also houses shrines of four Sufi saints. These shrines are located at Daragah Char Qutub and attract many pilgrims from far and wide.
Gujari Mahal :
Built by Mughal, Gujari Mahal is another place of attraction in Hansi. It is famous for its architectural value.   





Blackbird Resort :
Blackbird resort is another place where one can spend some time. The resort is specially built for tourists by Haryana Tourism.

The festival of Lohri is celebrated on 13 Jan every year. It marks the end of the winter. Other major festivals of Hansi and the state include Baisakhi, Nirjala Akadashi, Gangore, Basant Panchami etc. 

Tourist Places in Kumarakom


Known for its backwater tourism, Kumarakom is famous tourist spot in the state of Kerala, India. Kumarakom is located near the city of Kottayam which is just 16 km away from it. Tourism, fishing and agriculture form the economic activity of Kumarakom. It has vast area under mango groves, paddy fields, and coconut groves.          
Bird Sanctuary :-
Bird sanctuary of Kumarakom is famous for many species of birds including some migratory birds. Vembanad Lake in Kumarakom is known for being the largest backwater in Kerala. The lake houses many fresh water fish species. The lake and the sanctuary are major attractions of Kumarakom.  Back water of Vembanad Lake is the main tourist place. This 2 hour long pleasant trip by canoes is available at reasonable price and can be taken in the early morning or in the evening to avoid scorching sun in the moon.
The Taz Garden Retreat :-
The Taz Garden Retreat is another place of interest in Kumarakom. It is a modern resort built in Victorian style bungalow in 1881. The place is one of the most visited places in Kumarakom.

Kumarakom has been declared as special tourism zone by Kerala state government. Kumarakom attracts thousands of tourists from across the country.
How to reach :-
If you are traveling by train you can get down at Kottayam railway station which is just 16 km from Kumarakom. From Kottayam you can take a state run bus or other private vehicles like car to reach Kumarakom. Kottayam railway station is well linked by many trains to many other cities and towns of the state and the country. State run buses and other private vehicles like cars and luxury buses connect it to other cities and towns of the state and the county. Gulmarg - a popular skiing destination

 

 Gulmarg, meadow of flowers as it literally means, is a beautiful hill station in the district of Baramula of Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. Earlier known as Gaurimarg, Gulmarg is located at the altitude of 2730m and has pleasant weather throughout the year. Alpather Lake :

Built 150 years ago by British St. Mary’s Church is religiously important place. A temple, Mosque and a Gurudwara are also situated nearby the church.

Shrine of Baba Reshi :

 Built in 1480 the shrine of Baba Reshi is situated in the valley of Gulmarg. Baba Reshi was Muslim scholar and saint who worked as courtier during the period of King of Kashmir Zain-ul-Abidin. The shrine is constructed in Mughal and Persian style of architecture. This sacred place is very revered and thousands of devotees visit the place throughout the year.

Cable Car :

One of the most wonderful attractions of Gulmarg is the Cable Car. The cable car is from Gulmarg to Kongdoor and known as  Gondala Lift. The cable car is managed by Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation. The cable car gives wonderful experience of watching the pristine beauty of Valley. Skiing and snowboarding are some of the joyful activities in the Gulmarg. It has become a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding in India. There are many ski resorts with all facilities of skiing in Gulmarg. Golf is the attractive and popular sport in Gulmarg. Established in 1911 by the British, Gulmarg Golf Club offers 18 holes and 72 par golf courses. The club also offers membership on temporary basis, even for a day for enthusiasts. 


Best time to visit:  

March to June is the ideal time to visit Gulmarg as the climate is pleasant where as the temperature during this month is 29 degree Celsius max. to 13 degree Celsius.

Tourist Places in Kanchipuram



Kanchipuram is a city in Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  It was formerly called as Conjeevaram. Kachabeswarar Temple:

Kailasanathar Temple :
Kailasanathar Temple is another place of interest in Kanchipuram. It was built in 7th century by Pallava king Rajasimha. The temple is fine example of Dravidian style of architecture.




Kamakshi Amman Temple :
Kamakshi Amman Temple is located in the center of the city. It was built in 7th century and renovated in 14th century. The temple is dedicated to goddess Paravati. It is famous for being one of the three holy places of Shakti Worship.

 Rishikesh is a holy town in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It lies in Dehradun district of the state.
